    Ferrari uses their test mules constantly to develop upgrades, different engine considerations etc. They have joined the green bandwagon so they may be testing something new and the old mule is probably easier to use than fabricating a whole new car. The bodywork they attach to the running chassis has very little to do with what is being evaluated.
