i originally wanted a white 360 coupe, just about impossible to find. i ended up with a perfect black 360 coupe. fantastic car, but now i want to have it painted white. any thoughts or suggestions? i've heard the 360 is a relatively easy car to have painted. has anyone had it done?

bad idea, cars value will be cut in half. I know i would never buy a car that had been painted.

Not a good idea. But if you are insistent, and plan to keep the car for a very long time, then do what you want with it. It's all about you being happy with the car.

    Cheers~

I was thinking the same thing, but not so sure you could wrap a black car with white and get any kind of decent look out of it. Bound to be cheaper than a paint job and if you didn't like it you could just take all the wrap off and be back to stock...no depreciation to worry about either (well not from a repaint/color change anyway)...

Should be able to wrap it, I think it's less than $5k to do it.

Be prepared to have your resale plummet. I would never do it.

I have seen very few satisfactory color changes on modern cars, where everything is body-colored. Be prepared to remove window glass, mouldings, grilles, lights, etc. etc.

I would strongly advise against it. After spending the money on the paint, and assuming it is done well, you will end up with a much harder to sell color.

As far as cost, I don't know. I do know someone locally who spent several thousand getting the front valance resprayed for rock chips.

After everything I learned about ferrari paint jobs with that mess I had when I bought my ferrari.. a very high percentage of ferrari's are painted at the port.. their paintjobs are crap.. but painting the car another color is a bid deal.. I dunno about going through all of that..

Not at all true that the value of the car would be half however it would be worth less and appeal to a much smaller market come resale time. Calculate $10-15K for a good colour changeand maybe $5-10K less you can get come resale time. The difference between the two is your total cost ($15-25K) on a car that is going to sell for less than $100K and will only go down in price. IMO only worth it if you will have the car a LONG time.

I agree, and to have a car like the 360 done right, you might even pay a bit more than 15K. Keep in mind there are very few white 360's out there and for someone that wants that color, it is not easy to find.

John- Just paint the bloody thing and do not worry about it. The people who will not touch a repainted car are uninformed. How many 250 GTOs have their original paint (none)? Many do not even have their original bodies. Has not hurt the value much. My 575M has had the front and rear bumpers repainted by owners who could not stand road rash or exhaust discoloring. Neither of our cars are going to appreciate in price anytime soon, so get it the way you want it. Just make sure the shop doing the job is extremely qualified to give you a quality job.

that Koresserie place (authorized ferrari body shop)

they charge 15k for a total body paint.. dunno if that is a different color or not..

either way.. they are considered the best.. get it dont by them and it wont affect resale at all..

I agree also.. there are a million reasons for paint on a car.. as long as the work is good and there was no major accident that introduced frame damage.. I would not worry about it.

while I agree he should do what he wants, your comment isn't really true. Repainted 250s are a different thing as they are pretty rare now, and as you said, there are few original examples. Unlike the 360, where there are lots of original examples, and lots of cars. Ask a dealer what a total repaint will do to the value of the car. And then ask what a total color change will do. Those are 2 diff things. If the car's paint is beat, then you will loose less. But if you have an original paint mint car, you stand to loose less. But you will still come out behind.

I could see how white is the popular color right now in other cars, and there aren't many in the 360 that you might find a buyer that wants it, but it will need to be done really well. An informed buyer or dealer will still see this as a detractor.

I like the wrap idea. As long as a good installer does the work, it should look nice and won't permantly alter the car. Granted, it won't look or feel quite like paint, but it's something to consider if you just want the look. White paint isn't all that glossy, anyway.

A gentleman over on 6speedonline recently had his CGT wrapped in flat black vinyl. The photos look good. Plus, I believe the installer can come to you and do the job in your garage. I'm sure it's a much quicker job than painting, too.

If you really want it, go ahead. I would stick with a factory color as I believe someone looking for that would be happier than an off-white at re-sale time. You can certainly write-off whatever you sepend on having it done. That money will never come back to you. I would take a lot of before and after pics to show it was done right. Certainly cheaper to try and find a 360 or 430 already in white, Scott

In the early days bought a new 246 Dino and absolutely hated the color and loved the car. It was metallic sand. Had it all redone to Rossa and throughly enjoyed the car till the day I sold it and never looked back. In it's day it was a high volume car and I should have taken a hit, but I did not on resale. Again the advise given here is correct as to probable loss finacially. Unless you really love the car you have and intend on keeping it , don't do it!

Unfortunately, I don't think wrapping your 360 is an option. Sure, you can, but the color within the headlight housing will still be black. Unlike the 430's, which aren't color coordinated to body color.

in terms of ferrari's so many of them have shoddy paintwork from the factory that it is common to have a brand new car taken to authorized locations in the US to fix the bad factory paint..

There was a post I made here on my 6k mile modena that I was told by people was a total repaint.. at the end of the day a ferrari factory authorized dealer told me all was well.. and looked "standard" for a ferrari.. aka painted at the port etc..

But this was after I was driven insane by friends of mine telling me that a respected ferrari dealer lied to me and sold me a "total repaint" car.. what a mess..

as long as the car looks good.. a repaint shouldn't damage resale if done for the right reasons... if it's a color rechange.. I can see it making a difference..

Well guys...let me tell u a few things...Autoform is the official Ferrari body shop in Lebanon.
U dont become ''official'' if u r not ''HIGHLY'' qualified...
if u want ur F360 in white...then go paint it...dont think of resale value...thats bull**** in my opinion...specially if the work is done by ''the best'' people in the business...
couple of years ago...one of our clients got a 612 in blue....he wanted it rosso corsa....but he had to wait for six months....he asked us to do the job...& we did...it took us 28 days...no need to mention the price...lol...
there's a thread called ''360 modified'' the yellow F360 is modified @ Autoform....but b4 that...it was color changed in Dubai from black to yellow...@ the '''best workshop'' there...
no need to say that the finish is not perfect...while the car was there...the owner asked the manager of the shop about the headlights...the manager answered:consider it done...2 days later manager contacts the owner to get the headlights done somewhere else...owner sent the headlights to Autoform with the paint number & brand...we did the job...

I was looking at cars today and thought about the wrap. the headlights would be the only issue. Wonder how easily they can be taken apart? I'm sure it can be done...

Best post in this thread. It's YOUR car. And not only is Taz right, but in addition your 360 has taken a major hit in value in the last 6 months anyway. You paid a good chunk of chage for your ride, make it the way you want it, and enjoy.

I would love to see some before/after pics if you decide to pull the trigger.
