Glad that's over. I boycotted many places because of it this year. Unfortunately, one of my favorite lunch places (Portillos) made that list.

As a business owner, you would think someone would be smart enough to avoid shoving religion down peoples' throats knowing that not everyone is a bible thumper.

Face the facts, Christmas no longer has anything to do with one's religion or belief, it's just become a commercial venture. This year (2008), that venture flopped!

I hate Christmas carolls too. Not because of the religious content, but because there is a about a ten song repertoire that every shop plays over and over again. Throw in jingle bells and you got me vomiting (somebody tell me when they last rode in an open sleigh and thought that was fun?).

I send the Ferrari calendars from my local UPS store and they play carolls incessantly before the Holidays. It is an annual insane torture, but that's what I do for you guys. :)

Regarding religious music I really can't stand because of the religious undertones: Maria Carey comes to mind

+1. Is that really the case? If so, get used to McDonalds drive-thrus then, I'll stick to my Portillos.

It would be nice if people didn't have the need to impose their personal BS on others...

That is what freedom of speach is all about. While I agree, I can just turn it off, ignore it or otherwise skip it.

Christmas carols have your nuts in a vice? Oh man, you need to move to Antartica. They have been played for what, 70 years? Hey if you don't like it be a hermit for 45 days.

Like I said before, XMas is nothing more than a marketing event. We have Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Grandparents Day, Sweetest Day etc. There ain't no 'Carols' blasted for those days.

It's all a marketing ploy, and millions fall for it!

By the way, it's a well known fact that if Jesus Christ, the so-called son of God actually existed, he definitely wasn't born on Dec. 25th. Most likely he was born in a summer month. Dec. 25th was picked because it coincided with a number of other holidays at the time.

All of the above events are purely meant to make money. Bringing religious undertones, or being forced to show respect to you and yours for any perceived 'Day', is strictly meant to take money out of your wallet for someone else to benefit financially!

Uh, with slightly different lyrics it sounds like my fav band Ramstein:

"Ein Mensch brennt, ein Engel rennt."

I played Christmas CDs at work, but different versions. One of them is the Merry Axe-Mas disc from a few years ago. It's pretty good, with arrangements done by some of the biggest guitar names. The other is a compilation my friend "in the biz" made about 10 years ago with a fresh combo of songs. But if you had such a hard time listening to Christmas music, I guess then that you pretty much stayed home all month to avoid those hideous religious displays present at all the bars and restaurants.
