Do you know which size the tyres have?
They look really wide to me.

As Marcel pointed out: "Scarce", but as with most things, not impossible to get.

No, 55643 is NOT the Schumacher 288 GTO.
Michael Schumacher owns 288 GTO #54233.

I almost paid 300 Euro for a copy at an Essen Motor Show but found a new copy at ebay for a bit less. I don't care for the fancy case and big engine blueprint and wished they made also a cheaper edition. Still glad I have it.

When I said Schumacher was looking away, I was joking that he accepted to autograph the car but didn't care for the modifications...

As Marcel has clarified, Schumacher's car is another GTO.

    :(
You mind me asking what the price was? I would love to help the LoC get a copy.

And any automotive authors/writers on here, please have your publishers provide copies of your books to the Library of Congress for the enjoyment of all generations and those of all economic status! ;)

I pulled my copy of "Les Ferrari GTO" and remembered: its really a mini-book!

The 1988 book by Christian Descombes size of a small hand-book, and is entirely in French without any English translation.

It worth noting that 3/4 of it is dedicated to the 250 GTO.

When the 288 GTO does eventually appear, it is restricted to the 9 press images in black-and-white Ferrari SpA images that were disseminated to enthusiasts everywhere.

Just one single privateer car (German-registered "BO-YE.581") makes an appearance in a grand total of two (2) pictures besides the cover.

    Still, an interesting piece...

    Tony:

This car is the one featured several times in this thread with the UK registration "A 6 GTO", chassis number 54235. It was originally owned by Ferrari collector Albert Obrist, but what I find interesting about this car is that it is one of a few no-frills GTOs built with manual windows and no air-conditioning. Cloth seat inserts, 4-point harnesses and Megaphones are a nice touch :)
