I had been waiting for this game for most of the year, and finally got it for Christmas. I think its a fun game. I've been doing pretty good so far

I like it, too. Take the assists off and the old cars are right on.

Ran the US Challenge Series, won both races at the world finals at Mugello and bang, the FXX!

I'm so happy to do a 1:58.25 at Mugello in the 430 Challenge car.

I think I got the FXX after completing the F50 Trophy event, which I think I unlocked after the F40 Trophy. I'm still trying to complete my first challenge series

The 333SP is dead unless you're above 9K RPM.

Bogs down a lot, and way too tall gears.

Agreed on Paul Ricard - it is track with no rhythm or flow to it.

I haven't driven the 250 TR in ages (in the game that is) but I thought it had way too much understeer. Is the real car like this too?

So now I have a target time to achieve. :) What kind of shifting do you use - paddle shift or H gear with clutch (like on the G25)

I read online that the Download pack containing the Enzo, Scuderia and P4 is dead. The makers of this game are a bunch of friggin amateurs. They delayed the game so much, over promised on the cars, the game had too many bugs, etc, etc.

All that said, I still enjoy playing it. I just wish someone like EA or the Gran Turismo guys built it instead.

Uh, careful there: I think GT5 developers missed the boat in the other extreme: They are building the ultimate driving sim, but it won't be available until the year 2137...

I'm so friggin tired of waiting and waiting and waiting for GT5 and meanwhile being spoon fed some additional ricers (and the California).

Pirelli Challenge overpromised by talking about all Ferraris ever. That was hard to believe from the start, but they did deliver an otherwise complete game with all tracks and the Challenge car.

Or to put it differently: I'm done playing GT5 prologue, but Trofeo Challenge will be played every year now. Just like F1CE.

I bought the game when it first came out on the PS3. I don't have the time to unlock all the cars so it's sat ever since. Anyone who wants to buy it can shoot me a PM.

I have the game and it's ok. It does take a while and the AI on the other cars is dumb, they just get right on your line with no respect to physics. Completed the first challenge series, and bummer you can't rerun just one race. Qualifying is not long enough either.

The 430 drives better if you lower it quite a bit.

I'm still playing with the controller haven't pulled out the wheel yet, is it better?

F1CE is my favorite game of all time!

Do you drive your car with a controller too?

It is far better with the wheel because it supports FFB. I simply wouldn't know what to do with a contoller.

Honestly, I can't think of a track i don't like on the game. I hate driving the 360 Modena. God it's terrible. It says that i've unlocked all the cars, but it gave that message at an odd time.

VIR can be tricky, and Paul Ricard has that one tightening right hander that can be fun to slide into.

Yeah, haven't bothered to set it up or had the time. Just a quick game here or there. For F1CE I have to use the wheel.

However I'm doing really well at Mugello, since I got a lot of practice there from Forza 2. For a driver's perspective:

Today, I drove the 250 GTO in the trophy event and won the 250 LM. I then ran the LM back to back against the GTO at Monza. The LM was quite a bit more powerful and torquey - I was a gear higher than the GTO in most corners. It brakes better, has a lot more visibility too. It is a twitchy mid engined SOB though :) Helps to have a touch of throttle on while braking hard to prevent the rear going light. My lap time was 2'17" in the LM vs 2'23" in the GTO. Guess the 20hp increase and 150kg lightening had something to do with this. :)

I like how the bias ply tires have been modeled in the older cars. You can sense the tires squirming around under power when there is some steering lock on. The Parabolica is a good corner to play with this. The first gear in both cars isn't very useful on the track - I guess it's only purpose is a quick start off the line.

One thing I haven't got the hang of is drifting these cars through the corners under power - too much power and a 360 degree spin occurs - too little power, it understeers. The transition between too little and too much power is not easy to figure out for a novice like me. Obviously geniuses like Hill, Clark and others had the talent to make the car dancer. ;) :)

What I like about racing the old cars is driving it is quite relaxing - there is so much more time involved in braking, turning, accelerating. You can savor each act - the world seems to slow down. By comparison in a modern race car, everything happens too fast. Blink and you missed it. :) If I ever replay my F1-2002 game again, I bet I will be blow straight through the corner and into the wall. :)

Vintage racing must be fun for the participants. :)

God this game is intoxicating.

I love Mugello too - it is a fun track and has some Imola like corners to it. The corners have a nice rhythm to it :) I think it must be my second most favorite track after Spa.

+1. I totally agree with you about Mugello and I think Spa is the best track in the game. There is just something about unleashing the Ferraris true potential at Spa, the fast sweeping corners and the high speeds and braking zones. I especially like the first few corners. Today was not a lucky day for my 348 at Silverstone, it spun out of control and hit another 348, the entire front bumper blew off (first time I crashed in game:(). Anyone else hate driving at Silverstone?

I see you found your answer about how to counter the understeer and yes, the old cars really DO drive like that. :D Actually, it's overslowing, not too little power, that causes the understeer to start. And once it starts, you're DONE!

Ands that's what's cool about this game. I think it replicates that feeling well.

The new cars don't, won't or can't do that. That's why it's fun to really hang it out in the old cars.

    You've GOT it!

BTW, VIR absolutely SUCKS in the game. OTOH, Spa and Mugello are pretty darned good!

It's clear Bruno never drove VIR... :(

Yes. It belongs to Bernie Ecclestone. No wonder it is such a pain and has no rythm at all....

I love Silverstone - the first sector has some fun corners - Copse, Maggots, Becketts.

Last night I did a quick race in my F50, then bought a 250 GTO and did the trophy event for that. Back to back in these cars was a hard adjustment
