So I guess by your reckoning, anyone who buys, owns or operates a pickup or an SUV is guilty of treason as well. This fits in perfectly with the new Obama stimulus plan - new employment for firing squads to execute all of those millions of traitors. To say nothing of the booming funeral home services and excess land to be purchased by the government to bury all of the Ford truck owning traitors. Maybe we should bury all of the trucks and SUV's too. That would absorb all of the bad land deals.

The Cali is a piece of crap as a Ferarri, but it is a wonderful Porsche or Maserati. Since it really is a sort of Maser or Alfa, maybe we should put in under those areas...

Given the economy and the direction of Ferrari under Luca (tell me he still doesn't run things ar Ferrari), we may very well look to this model as the wrong way turn off the main road for the company; not catastrophic, but damaging in the near term until they eventually "rediscover" themselves and rededicate the company to its roots. Yeh, they always return to their roots when they wrongly guess market direction. They will take a look at the earlier cars, their lagging sales and figure out what the market wants in a high performance Italian exotic (hint: not front engined hard top convertibles oriented towards a female clientele priced alongside an entry Lambo or a 430!)

In the meantime, Lambo, Audi and Maser stand a good chance at snaking Ferrari market share. Where's the idiotic front engined gimmicky drop top Lambo? Hey, there ain't one cause that would spoil the supercar categorization. Hey Luca, you reading this??? Why is Ferrari leaning towards front engined cars? Why don't you just give up and rebody Corvettes?! Think of the profit margins on that when you really don't have to design a car at all, just redo the interior and sheet metal.

Audi's R8 is kickazz and the price point is where the new Ferrari should have been. Maybe Alfa will seriously enter this market with a better choice than that ridiculously overpriced 8C.

I need to adjust my meds now...

With due respect to the good people at Audi, the R8 is the answer to a question nobody asked. Have you actually seen one? It is completely impractical from a space POV, no trunk storage for anything and the cabin is somewhat confined too. It performs at a lesser level than its corporate cousins at Porsche and it looks like a bloated VW Beetle. To compare it to the Cali is to compare Roseanne Barr to Beyonce (Beyonce also has a big booty but everything else is just sublime, just like the Cali. I bet Beyonce with her top down is breathtaking as well.)

Some people buy sportscars because of Heritage. Ferrari hasn't won the 24 of Le Mans since 1964. Audi has accomplished that a lot more recently.

    Cheers

I find it funny that all these people claim that ferrari is a "MAN's" car. Ferrari used to be MACHO!!!, it used to be MANLY!!! Since when do you need a CAR to define your sexuality.

I dont give a **** what my cars says. I dont need a car to define how MANLY I am, if your worried about what someone is going to think about you and your "manliness" with the car you drive then you are not a man. Your an insuecure typical castrated boy.

All these MANLY men claiming how much they care about what OTHERS would think about their car sould like a bunch of high school girls worried about what the POPULAR girls think about them.

The car is supposed to be an excellent driving car. Thats all you need to know.

To complete the car for 'everyone' angle ............ ferrari needs to make a 'crossover' ............ with all the 'comfort/luxuries' standard ................. because that is why anyone would buy ferrari ................. :)

Very true. But for a big guy such as myself...the R8 V10 has something to offer. THe gallardo is made for tiny little people and the inside feels like I could rip it out with my bare hands. At least the R8 has a little more room and has a more solid interior.... with that said I am NOT a fan of the R8. Gallardo blows it away in styling.

Beyonce "ain't" all that. Plenty of Beyonces in Houston..if you are into that

THe California appears to be a great car. I think the styling is boring to many. But as it has been pointed out to me before, if you look at Ferrari's history and the variety in the design of their sports cars you should see that the California does in fact fit in the line up. I think the price of the entry level ferrari (430) was getting so far above MSRP that Ferrari saw an opportunity to sneak a cheaper model in. I would never have any interest in purchasing for myself. If and when I get married maybe for my wife.

I really don't think that it will prove to be less expensive than the 430.

Had a friend approach the local dealer about a place on the list for a California, and he got told that he had to buy a Maserati Spyder from them first and then trade it back to them when a California became available. At their price.

My guess is that when these finally get out there will be many 430s available at either a discount or at least without a markup.

Exactly. Since when is a 330 GT or a Lusso "masculine"? If you ask me, the Lusso is one of the most feminine (and beautiful) cars ever made. Those that think the California looks like a Kia or Japanese car should start looking seriously at the 348 vs an MR2.

For those who say it's ugly, put it up against a Bugatti Veyron, the Audi R8, or the Nissan GT-r and then tell me which is uglier. There is no comparison. The California wins easily.

Massa said something today really interesting about the new F60 Formula one car that :

"I didn't expect a beautiful car, but I have to say it is very beautiful, despite all the rules, which make the cars uglier. Let's hope it's fast. I'd prefer an ugly car that's fast over a beautiful car that's slow."

Maybe he could teach us all a little something about what's important and what is not.

Furthermore, any women that loves the Ferrari mark and wants to purchase one is OK IN MY BOOK.

LASTLY, if you think your car needs to make you look more "masculine", then you're probably got a good chance to fall for those "Smilin' Bob" Extenze ads too (or already have).

Yes it is a chick car, but that's not so bad. You drive the f430 and she can drive the Cali.End of it rides so rough, Don't drive so fast, etc.I'll keep driving my F car and the XKR.the Xkr is as close as I want to get to a chick car. They will sell plenty of them ,But they still look like GM's little SKY!

Yes, but Ferrari has won "a few" other races since then.

I mean, if someone has to decide between a Ferrari and an Audi based solely on heritage, I think that the decision is clear.

Well, maybe the Audi enthusiast was looking back at the 1939 Auto Union? It had no trouble with the scud Ferrari cars in it's day.

Anyway - I bow to your automotive heritage judgements just because you choose to honor the ancient marque DeSoto.

Sports Car Racing is not everything in this life. There are single seaters too.

But even in sports cars: don´t forget the 333SP, 550 and 575 GTC, and those 360 and 430 GT.

Wait - I thought that the privateer Ferrari 250/275LM won LeMans in 1965 last (not 1964)...

Not that it has anything to do with the subject of this thread, of course...
