Background: I have always prided myself on keeping my cars in very nice cosmetic condition, and previously handled all the detailing duties myself (by hand, Griots machine, polish and wax).... Have been really busy lately, and finally broke down and took it to a local Denver detail shop (The Intrigue Detail at Club Auto in Lakewood).

Damn....better job than I do, I am ashamed to say. I guess that is why they are professionals in the car care game. Justin, Nate and Aaron did a great job, and even recommended a lower valence/rocker "touch up" which I was meaning to do (previous wax jobs had thinned the flat black on the lower portion and it was dull). Car looks absolutely fabulous in and out (exterior, engine, underbody, carpets, seats and even the inside of the convertible top).

I am selling the 89 Mondial t cab (since its got almost 20K miles on it now :), hopefully enroute to an F355 someday soon, but these guys are making me have second thoughts. I love the car, and now, its really sparkling clean. Gives me a great foundation for again doing it myself and keeping it that way.

    Nicely done. Thanks guys!

    John

NICE!! It was nice before but damn.....

Now the ash will just roll of the smooth, polished paint while screaming between Boulder and Lyons.

    Well done guys.

if you dont mind me asking John, what did they charge for just the detail job and not the paint work. did they detail the underside of your car (frame and engine) also?. did they also detail in the engine compartment? thanks

Car is nicely tucked under its cover for now, but will be screaming again soon, after they open US36 north of Boulder.

Well, the wildfires are somewhat controlled now, and the winds have died down. Helicopters/planes flying over my house in North Boulder most of the night. -- the firefighters have done a good job, I think.

    John,

The car looks great. The last time I saw it you had just bought and had only had it a few days. You were building the list of all the detail work you wanted to do. Whatever you did to the interior is amazing and I love the clean floor panels. It's great to see the pride of ownership.

The detail (in, out, engine compartment, brief cleanup on the underside) was approx $400 They had a slot open, and I jumped on it right after the holidays. The minor spray on the rockers/valence was $50 ish

Don't quote me, as I am not sure of their usual pricing, or whether I got a 'holiday special' but I think its ballpark.....either way, I thought it was fairly priced. I sat down with them in advance and we discussed the specifics of what areas they would do fully, and which they would just dust off/clean up a bit (like the underside), and what type of polish and wax would be best to obtain the desired result.

Better than good judging from what I saw this AM on the way in. A great many families still have a house to call home after seeing where the Firefighters held the line! Burned to within a few feet of the houses but not the dwelling. I know I slept with one eye open and the horse trailer hooked up to the truck! That line moved pretty fast with 100MPH winds but they held it back.

As a professional detailer here in Utah the work of a true professional is amazing. The pictures are not the best, but I don't see any marring or swirls in the paint. You got a great deal if you only paid what you said, true detailing is expensive because of the time, products, and expetise requried.

Kudos to the owner for stepping it up and to the detailers for also!! What was the process used for the detail?

    Cheers,
    GREG

I will let Aaron/Justin reply on the "technical" process they used (typical professional approach: measure the paint depth, paint correction, polish, and then specific carnuba wax. No swirls or mars in the paint remain. They did a nice job.

I was especially pleased with them sitting down with me in advance and asking about my maintenance habits so they could select the best match of products for the desired effect that I wanted, and the frequency of next application (eg. sealants versus carnuba waxes, etc. High gloss vs deep shine).
