Hi Everyone, I recently got a ticket for no front plate which led me to do a little search on the topic. Turns out that there are 20 states in the U.S. that do not require front plates! I found a petition for California to do the same here: http://www.petitiononline.com/caplate/petition.html I just signed the petition which took about 20 seconds. Please spread the word around and feel free(if ok with the moderators)to post the same information in other sections of this forum.

For real. I got one on my Merc, and that's the last one I intend to get in SF. I always park in a garage in SF.
Thank you for the overwhelming response! The more I think about this, the more sense it makes. Perhaps Dusty can get involved in this and really spread the word? I think this is a good cause. Think about all of the resources we will be saving from cutting plate production by half, better gas milage, and less minor collision damage!
Please spread the word around. Think about all the resources we will be saving from cutting total plate production by half, better gas milage, and less damage from minor collisions. In these economic times, I think this is a waste that we can do without.
Ok. I figured out what SFPD means. And I heard about that place called SF. And I have seen the MM before. But I have no clue what a DPT stands for. Diptheria Pertussis Tetanus vaccine? Jay
DPT=Department of Parking and Traffic If you do not have a front license, DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT park on the street in the City of San Francisco. YOU WILL BE TICKETED. They are very efficient. If you don't believe me, good news is that you can correct the violation and pay $10, instead of the $100 fine. Just remember that you have to dispute the ticket. Do not send your corrected ticket in with $10. Cities that use red light cameras are on high alert for any vehicle without a front plate. As mentioned above, they need the revenue.
Good to know... From now on, it'll be the wife's car only if we go to S.F. On another note, I got pulled by Monterey PD two years ago ON Thanksgiving Day right around the aquarium's garage for front tint - NOTHING else! - just the tint... Unbelievable. Even my buddy who is SJPD called it a chicken-**** ticket.
its only for revenue for those stupid camera tickets...plus on some cars it makes the front of your car look like crap!!! p.s. signed//
