Hello my name is Ryan and for the last 8 years I have been an automotive technician. I have worked at all factory dealerships. I have worked on Ferrari, Maserati, Aston Martin, Lamborghini, Lotus, Bentley, Rolls Royce, and Bugatti. I have been factory trained in most of those brands. I am here to ask questions, make friends, and hopefully answer some of your questions. I dont know everything but I know a lot of different people with ALOT of Ferrari experience. I am currently starting a business modifying and maintaining exotic cars. I hope to talk to many of you soon.

    Hahaha!

What a cool place. People keep telling me how dangerous it is and I guess if you don't approach it with what Brian Redman calls "controlled aggression," you can really screw up.

Been racing there off and on since 1988, driven it in a variety of cars and seen some really good driving. The town is behind it 110% and it's a very special event.

First time I saw Bill Serri and Henry Wessells duking it out in a Bug T35C and an Alfa 6C-1750 Zagato (both blown and respectively), both brushing the curbs at the exit at nearly seventy miles an hour as they slid across the first right hander headed up the hill, it WAS a religious experience!

I am going to really bore you I drive a 1998 GMC Yukon and 2003 Honda Accord. I get my thrills at work. When you work on the cars that I do your speed perspective gets really out of whack and nothing is fast enough. So I dont bother with my own vehicles. To answer some of the other questions. I work on the new Veyron and I have been to factory. I have pics. They had a really sweet Atlantique Coupe in the showroom. It had been restored. I do get to test drive my work. That is the best part of my job. I have driven the fastest cars in the world and I have been paid to do it. I have been to Bugatti factory in France and I have been to the Aston Martin factory in England. I have to say I love my job. I get paid to drive great cars. Still waiting for my invite to Modena. Maybe one day.

Sounds like you've done some travelling to be "factory trained on most of those brands". Busy 8 years, what did you do before and where do you work now/ Penske?

Took over 30 years before I saw/workedon/drove all those, LOL

You only win your wings after you've adjusted the brake rods and set the servo clearances on a Cloud, bled the brakes and then driven it under 1 MPH without needing foreign objects (trees, lampposts, pedestrians) to stop it. Installing ignition wires on a Cloud, using the factory loom hardware is also an important and humbling experience, as is changing plugs on the same car without removing the 2488 bolts securing the wheelhouse access plates.
Replacing rear brake rotors on a Shadow/Wraith/Spur, etc. builds character too. It takes heroically high hydraulic pressure to liberate the stub axle's tapered shaft from the hub, and serious guts to keep pumping the bearing press while imagining thousands of dollars worth of English iron embedded in the walls and floor (and you).
Just a few of the things the budding RR mechanic has to look forward to!

To say nothing of the Lotus quirks......

I would rather not say where I work now but if you know what brands I work on and where I live you can figure it out. I started a an apprentice at Lake Forest Sportscars in Chicago. I also worked at Scottsdale Lamborghini. Wow that guy was a crook. All this talk of old RR has my head spinning. Brake pumps gas springs oh my. We really dont see a ton of the old stuff. We do see some the shop foreman has like 30 years of RR experience. I mostly do Phantom work you know a giant BMW 760.

    Welcome Ryan,

We have alot in common! I have worked on all the brands you have mentioned, as well as traveled abroad and recieved factory training for the Italian cars you mentioned. I have a few more years on you though. My primary focus throughout my career has been dedicated to Ferrari. I also have a business modifying, maintaining, repairing and providing track support for individuals who own and drive exotic cars, primarily Ferrari's.

Have fun jumping around on the site, it can be fun and challenging at times.

    Adam,
Maybe I could pick your brain sometimes. Being that you have been around this longer than I have. I would love to chat with you sometime.
