it's a "no reserve car" It will be interesting to see if it goes over or under the $100k figure

I am not. I will however be at Cavallino. I talked to Joe Sacky about this 288 GTO, he thinks it's a very nice example and think it will sell in the upper range of the reserve. I would be very happy at the very low end or at $350K!

Gene, I'm talking about the Boxer; not the GTO.

Hammered for $90k 5 mins ago. Under $100k for a good one - one of the best deals of the evening I think.

geno, did not end up w the 288, I stopped at 400k and it whizzed right by me..The carb boxer was very nice except for one of the ugliest rear bumpers Ive ever seen. otherwise, the car was a steal IMHO. I cheated on both my ferrari and porsche friends..Bought a 100 pt 62 E type roadster, had one in college and have been looking for a while, paid less than the cost of the resto!

Mark I also had dreams of buying that GTO closer to the low reserve estimate. I was even going to register and bid remotely. I than awoke, smelled the coffee and decided that I would be wasting my time. I was right, the car sold for what I was expecting. Congratulations on your E type. A 1962 flat bottom roaster. Has always been one of my of my favorite cars. Now you got two classic English open tourers.

    Gene.

It's the sound of me eating my heart out. Mark, you have great taste and fantastic timing. The 288 GTO will soon be in your price bracket. In the interim, enjoy the E Type. It is definitely on my must have list.

    Cheers,

    Keith

The 512BB looked to me like a #3 car tarted up with a fresh paint job. Worn interior, rusty undercarriage and leaking oil. I'd say decently bought but not a "great" buy.
