    Guys..

I decided that the rear parcel shelf was letting the car down & so decided to strip it out & give it a leather specialist for recovering... Pics attached

I pick up the parts tomorrow & can't wait to refit them!

Hope he has done a good job with pics to follow!

    Anyone done this?

Parcel Shelf? I never realized my 328 had a "parcel shelf." Where can I find a parcel small enough to fit there? :)

    Hi Roy...

Fairly straight forward really (he says)! its just 4 bolts & depending on your car the panels will either pop out or they will be fastened in with pot rivets... still easy, you just need to pop the side windows out 2 min job & drill the rivets out!

I pick mine up tomorrow from the leather shop. hopefully they will look nice as the guy does all the leather work for nick cartright & other ferrari dealers!

The price is £140 rear panels, both upright side panels & rear square panels... If you wanted the rear roof done add another £40.

    I will post pics tomorrow!

    Cheers

Was leather an option with the leather package on a 328(specifically an 89) in this area or were all 328's done in the fabric? I'm considering redoing mine and the headliner on the targa top but would want to keep a stock or option look if I did it.

I was always under the impression that leather was an option? especially on the targa top headlining. My next step is to have the inside of the targa top recovered. It totally transforms the interior look.

I had the whole rear window area done in leather when I bought my car 10 years ago (and the inside fof the targa). It's going to look really, really good in your car. The other benefit of it is that its a lot, lot easier to keep clean and when you see the amount of dirt that accumulates round the rear window just from driving around with the roof off you'll understand why the original fabric just doesn't have a chance. Leather is the absolute best way to refurbish these areas on 308s & 328 GTS's IMO.

    Hi Rod,

A leather headliner was an definitely an option on GTB/coupes, but I do not think it was ever offered on the GTS.

    Best regards,
    Dino

    Hi all

I think i have what maybe called full leather option on my GTS, rear shelf, headliner och dash are all nero leather.
Reading this thread made me realize that this might be very unusual.
Anybody have a clue of how may left the factory with this option?
However leather dash is not all good, i have a little what Testarossa owners calls a shrinkproblem around the dashvents.

    Rod

I am looking forward to see youre shelf when it´s finished, the parts look sweet!

    Thanks Janne...

The bits that I have had covered in crema look amazing! at the time I left the upper rear trim in place but when I started to fit the lower rear trim it just look soooooooooooooooooooooooo out of place! I thought removing the upper panel would be tricky but infact it was simpler than removing the other panels! hence it is now removed & on its way to the leather shop!

I would love to have the targa top redone in leather & might just get this done in the coming months..

Have you any pics of yours? I will be posting up pics once I have it all back together so that the 3x8 guys can spend some more monies on their pride & joy!

    Regards

    Rod

    Hi Dave...

That looks real nice.. It totally transforms the car with both the roof on & off. did you do the inside of the targa top?

My former '88.5 GTS had that done by the owner before me. The upper part of the shelf, targa top headliner, etc were finished in crema leather and the lower portion (behind the seats) was done in black. It really looked sharp!

I thought that I had a pic of the top to post, but can't locate it.

In any case, the creme leather replaced the OEM white cloth which was a real pain to keep clean. The leather is much easier to keep looking nice.

Also, one side benefit that you will notice: The aroma of the new leather is -way- better than whatever was there before! You'll notice this every time that you open the door.

    Cheers - DM

I really can´t say for sure if this was done by a previus owner or not, i can´t find anything i the dokumented history that suggests its a conversion.
The dokuments are fairly good and dates back to early -94 before that i only have the servicebook.
I have owned the car for 3 years and the owner before me had it for 10 years, before that it has been alot of owners.
I noticed that i have nero leather even above the rear window as you mentioned in youre post.
The vin is 75436 maybe someone has the right sources to find out about it.
Went down to the garage and took some pictures of it.
