Does anyone know of a black Mercedes 300SL around here? I thought I saw one but I was far away so I can't be sure.

Don lets you hang around parole offices? Oh, sorry, I have a spot. Murdered out ( I hate that term ) Aston roadster ( I believe ) at the Aston dealer, parked in the customer spots, around lunch today. Don't know what kind, I was too busy watching the idiots on Lemmon, as well as the tennis effect of looking from Aston over to Maser/Bentley world.

Good day for a long drive, good day for some spots:
Heading North, back to DFW on I-35 from S of Hillsboro, saw a Southbound black California Coupe, er, Maser GT. :D Decided to make my way to the Dallas side and head up to Boardwalk to see if they had one of the ferrari-badged Maser GT Spiders in the showroom for comparison to the Coupe. They didn't.
HOWEVER (!!!!), as I was pulling out of the parking lot, a VERY interesting car comes rumbling in. He's just checking his spinners, but catch him for a moment. From what I remember, it was a ~1956 or so Jaguar "Cozy Spin" racecar, or something like that. Could see the side draft carbs through the vent in the fender, looked like a large bore 4, but could have been a 6. NEAT, NEAT, NEAT!!!! Wish he hadn't been in such a rush to get back on his drive. Pics below - sorry forthe crappy BB quality, but better than nothing, especialy for something like this. Anyone recognize it, or have a better description than "~1956 or so Jaguar "Cozy Spin" racecar"?

A few minutes later, running down the Tollway back in towards Dallas, came up on a new, still-on-paper-tags, Murcielago Roadster, Burnt Orange. No pic, but dayum, that thing looked huge from behind!

WOW great day today. Took another trip to my favorite place now; the Galleria! Silver Gallardo (saw it twice), red F430, yellow 360 Modena w/Challenge grille, Maser Cambiocorsa, some S class Audi's, Aston DB9, some Bentleys, a Quattroporte, 3 Vipers, 2 Elise's, a Prowler, new GT500 convert, that's all I remember, oh, and the same orange Murcielago seen from the Galleria parking garage... was an LP640 Roadster. So on to the pics, didn't post anything but the super exotics but if anyone wants to see the regulars lmk! Oh and this Puegeot.

Read the license plate on the Lotus!

willrace, if I'm not mistaken all California's are hardtop convertible.

Also, thanks for the link to the 300SL, but the car I saw was definitely black.

    Peugeot Mi-16!! Nice spot!!

By the bumper, it looks to have been sold out of Doran, which used to sell Peugeot in Dallas. Can someone confirm that??

They also all were Maser GT convertibles - until ferrari decided to slap a bunch of horses all over it and double the price, to sell it as jewelry. Thus, the barely tongue-in-cheek slam on ferrari's accountants' brrrrrrilliant (more sarcasm, btw) rebadging of what would have been prettier and more appropriate as its intended Maser model.

After a week up in a small town in the Amarillo area, driving home to Dallas, I nearly broke my neck as I saw a '96 or '97 Viper GTS, blue with white stripes, driving on (I guess I was on) 287. After a week where my best spot was a Fiero (yeah, that bad), I really just about broke my neck when I saw this amazing car driving 100 miles from the middle of nowhere (near Elektra I think).

My mom was driving during this spot, but she swears there is a four-door Aston Martin for sale just as you enter the signs of civilization (South Lake?) from the North. I was in the backseat at the time, and didn't see it. Is the Rapide out?

The car is a 1957 Cozzi Jaguar Special equipped with an in line six 120 MC with high compression pistons, light weight flywheel. four SU carb setup and all alloy body with a unique tube chassis. Was raced in 57 and 58 exclusively in California against Carrol Shelby (Maserati 300S) Jack Graham (Aston DB3S) and John von Neuman (Ferrari 500TR) and won the Class C numerous times. Was lost for about 25 years in a mechanics garage before found and put back in shape in 2007. Featured in May 1957 Road and Track and May 2007 Vintage Motorsport.

Thanks for filling in the blanks, and the grey ares - I was a little excited, so I recalled it as well as my rushed, adrenalin-addled mind had stored it. If that was you, I'd have offered my knock-off hammer to check the spinners, but....well, that excitement of encountering such a unique car on the road, in the wild kinda had my mind racing. Oh, and thanks for just getting it out of the garage occasionally. As you might have been able to tell by the bug streaks and brake dust on the Boxer, I'm a big fan of cars being driven, not just looking good under the lights of a garage.
Couldn't find anything on it, probably because I was overlooking the Italian influence and spelling it "Cozy". I'd love to see it again some time.

There is a Black on Red 190SL running around the Preston Hollow area. I cannot recall a Black 300 though.. FWIW.
