I went to work. No one here. Do people really celebrate this holiday? WTF?? Doesn't anyone want to work? RMX
I'm returning calls and find about 50% of them answering the phone. Man, is it quiet. No phones ringing either. RMX
Really poor taste on that one. It is slow as hell here too. However, I think we all respect and understand the importance of this holiday The Ferrari community is not a white boys club, and comments like this seem to intimate that there is some sort of inside joke among Ferrari owners regarding their feelings towards other races. I am not part of that joke, nor are the vast number of members on this board. You should keep comments like that to yourself.
It means we go through this every year. I don't care much for holidays myself, and don't like setting up the Christmas tree every year.....but it makes certain people happy so I do it. Today is MLK day, and people take off to feel better about themselves. I don't see the need to put the scope on which holidays should be celebrated. Do what the F you wanna do. You pay your own bills at the end of the day.
I sent 6 extensive e-mails to government guys yesterday with the idea that I would follow with calls this AM and move these projects off my desk. Nope.
I celebrate Yorkshire Terrier day (April 15, my dogs Birthday). I've been lobbying to get it increased to a week (1 dog day = 7 human days)... only seems fair
We always got Presidents day off, this year they took that one away and switched it to MLK Day. Like I told my friends yesterday who are working today.....I'd rather have few holidays and enjoy my job than hate my job and get 5 times the holidays.
If "Pick your nose day" was a National holiday everyone would take that one off also. Time off is Time off.

At the White House Rose Garden on November 2, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill creating a federal holiday to honor King. Observed for the first time on January 20, 1986, it is called Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Following President George H. W. Bush's 1992 proclamation, the holiday is observed on the third Monday of January each year, near the time of King's birthday. On January 17, 2000, for the first time, Martin Luther King Day was officially observed in all fifty U.S. states. Martin Luther King, Jr. (January 15, 1929 April 4, 1968) was an African American clergyman, activist and prominent leader in the American civil rights movement. His main legacy was to secure progress on civil rights in the United States and he is frequently referenced as a human rights icon today.
Actually I disagree. If he wants to celebrate Jefferson BD, go right ahead and he should come right out and say it. I'd rather it be known and out in the open than him be in the dark about it. He has his right his beliefs however right or wrong . My thought is that keeping comments bottled up isn't the solution. You don't want a muzzled and PC society that has their true thoughts/meanings/beliefs bottled away. . . The true enlightenment isn't when ignorant beliefs are bottled up, but when they aren't there.
Wow, you REAAAALLLLY missed the mark with this post. Probably better to just duck out of the thread. Nobody likes paranoid racist accusers.
I understand MLK day is a somewhat new holiday, but the questions relating to work has to stop down the line... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89983&highlight=martin+luther+king
