Hugh Ruthven just sent out the table information document for Ferrari Expo 2009 to be held again at Continental Autosport Ferrari/Maserati on April 25th 2009.

    See attached file.

I will also be running the Handbuilt model contest and photography display. All models entered for this contest must be built by the person entering and have the fit into the racingcar/sportscar theme. (i.e. no choppers, customs, NASCAR, lowriders ect.) We will again have a best Ferrari model of show award voted on by people at the Expo.

For the photography display, all photos must be mounted and ready for hanging. Bring your best Automobile racing/art shots!!

If you have any show information questions contact Hugh. If you have any
model contest and photography display questions contact me.

Hope all of you can make it. Can't wait to see what real cars are on display this year at Continental.

I have a large photo thread posted under the collectibles, Literature and models section.

Cool! I'll most definitely be there! Can I take part in the photo display? How large should the print be?

You sure can. Your photos are very nice. Make the prints around 8X10 and mount them in a frame for hanging.

Awesome! I assume Ferrari/Maserati pictures only? About how many should I bring?

You can bring a handful. Doesn't have to be just Ferraris/Masers (although I think it should :)).

I got plenty of 8x10 frames. Happy to give you some.

That would be awesome thanks! I'll be sure to bring a handful of my best. (Ferrari, Maserati, and hmm, maybe a few Lambos ;) )

I might actually do this--I'm looking to sell some items, and it would be a fun excuse to get out of the house. Oh yeah--I also live a mile away now!

Next Saturday it is finally time for this great event.

Time to unveil my contribution for the model contest: 2002 Schumacher car in 1/12 scale. A Revell kit, which I enhanced with a detailing kit: E.g. the wheels are real aluminum (working central screw) and the tobacco logos as they were back then. The driver figure is a kit bash out of a Schumacher bust and a generic driver I made a mold of.

Visitors to the show have a chance to vote for their favourite model of the show.

Looks very cool!!! How you did the driver is interesting. Good idea.

    P.S.

I do have an award for the best photo of show. The Motorsport Collector
is going to be kind enough to bring the display racks again. John W. will have part of his car collection on display, including the Maserati A6GCS and maybe the Lancia B24.

    Thanks.

My goal is to have the driver of the car for each of these models. There is no 1/12 MS figure, but there is a MS 1/12 bust (strange why they wouldn't do the whole person). But with a mold off another driver (Pironi to tell the truth) and some putty and voila. Found the decals from another ebay place and combined it all.

Helmet was also a one off I found on ebay with decals coming from a different place. Also required some kitbashing to get something resembling the HANS device.

As so often, the helmet drove me nuts and took more time, trials and effort than the whole driver.

I plan to be there in the morning, even though I have an all day conference. Also, is the Maserati a model?

The Maserati and Lancia are real cars, not models. Who knows what else will show up if the weather is good. The California, as stated on this forum has also come in and can be viewed at the Expo.

Got my pics printed and ready. I had to print them in 8x12 because I'd be forced to crop some of the photo out.

Sorry guys, the Lancia B24 is in California for the California Mille but there are other interesting pieces in the shop.

That sounds great. As long as we have a way to hang them(frame or hooks on the back of the mounting) it should be fine.

What's the parking situation going to be like there? I know the front lot is kinda small, especially if Continental has its cars out front.

    Hi Thom,

It was nice to meet you and a few other F-chatters today. Rode in the California. Great event and I hope the fundraiser went well despite the gloomy weather.

    Kind regards,

    Joe from Rockford.

Hi Jack, Parker is the name of my niece's new baby.

Is that the latest craze for boys names?
