Looking for the name of a western made a LONG time ago 70s maybe earlier. Dont remember much only that it had a SAMURAI who came to the wild west. If I recall it was Black n white too.

    nope..

The movie had something to do with a Samurai who came to the US cant remember why, the rest of the show is about him trying to get back to Japan, befriends a cowboy, lops off a bunch of heads and ends up dying before he can get home. Not sure what he was trying to do.. rescue someone or if he was part of a delegation that gets ambushed ... thats about all I can remember.

Is it Kung Fu with David Carradine...? There was a TV movie that preceded the television show - the show an from 1972-'75.

It sounds to me like you are talking about "Red Sun" (1972), with Charles Bronson as the Samurai and Toshiro Mifune as the cowboy (or was it the other way around???). It's playing on cable this month, I caught part of it a week or so ago, check your local listings.

I second Red Sun. (Soleil rouge) Sumurai had 7 days to recover stolen sword that was a gift to US president, partnered with wronged crime partner.

IIRC he was trying to chop off as many heads as he could before someone figured out to step back and shoot him. Sorta like Indiana Jones :D
