I'm not a fruit or a vegetable eater, I'm a meat and potatos guy. But I'm addicted to dried pineapple. I eat it like candy. That's the problem, I'm afraid it IS like candy. Since I have no concept of nutrition, can somebody please tell me if I can eat these golden nuggets to my hearts content, or should I treat it like it's a box of chocolate bon-bons?

I think it should be fine if you eat it in moderation.

I'd bet a lot of money that your dried pineapple is coated in sugar. If it's just the fruit alone, you should be fine. If it's covered in some form of sugary substance, might as well eat chocolate.

As mentioned above, most dried pineapple is sugar coated. It really -is- candy.

Then again, you're 6'5 and weigh like 120 lbs, so don't sweat it too much :D

Super high in sugar, so it's junk candy when you get down to it. A 1-oz. portion has 2 grams of fat and 19 grams of carbohydrates. The carbs turn to sugar and if you are not an active person, be prepared to put on the pounds!*

*I should talk! before bedtime, I pound down a small bowl of Rock Road ice cream (with chocolate syrup) and 2-3 Entenmann's glazed buttermilk donuts!

Of COURSE it's covered in sugar, but I thought that maybe it was 'pineapple' sugar that developed as part of the dehydration process. Some sort of refinement that happened to the pinapples natural sugar molecules as all the water was sucked out of it. Damn. :(

I guess from your perspective, I could look that tall. :p Only 6'0, sorry. And you're about 70 lbs light too.

Find organic or no sugar added dried fruit. You can find this stuff at most health food stores.

I've gotten hooked on fruits and veggies again since we've had our son. He eats better than I ever did--never thought you'd be able to bribe a kid using apples and grapes! But if you don't like a lot of produce, try grapes, clementine oranges or even un-cooked carrots or broccoli. I've found that I didn't like the way a lot of things tasted cooked, they're much better raw.

One of my favorite snacks is raw veggies and hummus-- especially the "Extra Garlic" style. Between that and the dietary fiber, I can get some serious odor emissions out the top and bottom. Not necessarily a bad thing as I often become more productive after snack-time since nobody wants to be around me.
