Porsche's new museum in Stuttgart opens

Wow! I really need to head over to Germany to see the BMW, MB, and Porsche museums. Any idea if they have the one-of-a-kind '98 911 GT1 street car there?

 

That's a '97 911 GT1 street car. They made about 25 of those. Porsche made two '96 911 GT1 street cars (993 headlights instead of the 996 lights you see on yours) and only one '98 911 GT1. I believe the one in your photo is/was owned by Don Wallace. The guy with the CLK-GTR (chassis #01), McLaren F1 (#073), Enzo (#400), MC12 (sold), etc.

I had a chance to see all his cars at Celebration back in '06 with a few other Fchatters. Very nice collection. I spoke with the guys that maintain the cars and they say they get to drive them around a little bit to keep them working since Don apparently doesn't get the chance to drive them that much. He had the first US-market Veyron on display that year as well.

Looks like a Big screen TV projector.
Somewhat bigger than the old place. Almost got kicked out of there opening a door on a 917. Ooops.

Why does Porsche need such a large building to show off ths same car over and over? Looks like a neat place. I'll have to add that to my list of car museums to see in my life.
