Which of you guys has the best wireless, cellular, internet plan? We want to get rid of our landline but it is coupled with our internet. We want to use just our cellphones and feel we no longer need a home phone. Who has the best plan and something we do not have to package with a landline? I figured you guys would have already researched this and could save me a lot of unfruitful phone calls and store visits.........

In my apartment I have only ever had a cell phone, and COMCAST for internet service (which is my cable company). Maybe it is available to you?

Yeah, Time Warner cable offers internet and television. At home we use AT&T for our landline and internet, we can't get rid of it as most people use that number to call us, and some other reasons.

I dumped my phone company six months ago and the only line I have is a cheap ($5.95/mo I believe it is) line for the wireless internet box that I have to have. I got sick of The cheap phone service ad's only to find out that with all the garbage fee's and taxes, it almost equals the base bill! Screw them! Since everyone in the family has their own cell phone, it made sense. For the fax, I went to MyFax.com and at $9.95 a month, I receive faxes and send them from my laptop and save at least that much in toner from junk faxes I use to get!

We have AT&T for our home landline, SBCglobal internet and T-Mobile family plan cell service. Do not have cable or dish TV. Our landline has the internet packaged with it and we normally spend about $88 per month for the service. The landline only receives very few incoming calls and most are spam. We never call out on it and use it for faxes very seldom. T-Mobile has something called add a home phone for $10 that requires purchasing a wireless router from them to convert over. But they tell me that AT&T makes it difficult to keep our current number if we switch.

This all gets very confusing quickly........

No, just do what I did. Your phone co will keep your land line for data only (I think it's $6 a month) and get a $9.95 a month fax service to your mobile laptop, home PC, etc.

T-mobile has a feature on their wi-fi enabled phones that turns it into a VOIP phone anytime you're connected to the internet - i.e., you don't use cellular minutes when youre at home if you have a wireless router. I don't have it personally, but a buddy of mine does because he doesnt have cell service where he lives - works well for him.

EDIT: I'm not certain if you have to be in a T-mobile hotspot (like at starbucks) for the wi-fi feature to work outside your home . . . worth looking into though

I used to have no landline, and lived off my cellphone... then used Skype for outgoing calls.

Now, with the bundle to have Cable internet and tv... it costs practically nothing more to add unlimited phone to it.

I try to stay off my cell phone when I can... even though it's not been proven yet, I'm sure it causes cancer. Nothing good can come from all that data passing right through your head.

Honestly, its doubtful that the cell-phone has any major contribution to cancer. You already have TONS of data getting broadcast through your head/body all the time. If you are truly concerned about it, you should have a bluetooth earpiece to use anytime you are on the cellphone anyway... atleast it is broadcasting at 1/3rd the power or less...

AM/FM/Wireless Internet/Wireless keyboard/wireless mouse/OTA TV/neighbors cell phones/cell phones of guests at restaurants sitting next to you/the wireless phone you use for your landline/light/satellite TV/GPS/etc etc etc. Its all electromagnetic radiation.
