After much searching online and phone conversations with major tire manufacturers it appears that only Pirelli Pzero's are available for 599GTB's in the correct sizes of 245/35/20 & 305/35/20.

Michelin list both sizes in PS2 tires on their web site as well as in their wholesale dealer catalogs but there are no 305's available anywhere. My guess is they have planned for that size but have yet to manufacture any due to no demand as Ferrari are delivering 599 with Pirellis as OEM equipment.

I am hopeful that the new Pirelli Corsas will be available in the correct or even close sizes when it becomes available, otherwise it''l just have to be ho-hum PZeros that go back on the car.

Alex, I saw serious numbers on the ho-hum Zeros today. 50 degree day, got them to 115. Really better than you think, and I'm horribly picky about tires, esp 300kph+. Stuck well enough that it was pulling up macadam on hard braking. :)

The Pirellis have been great but they seemed to have a momentary lack of grip in sharp corners which developed around 3000 miles.
A little disconcerting, but I should probably experiment with a bit more air in the rear rather than the recommended 29 psi.
    It's always an adventure!

It looks as though tirerack.com has the PS2's in stock in your listed sizes.....I changed my 575M tires (19" modulars w/ FHP) from the Pirelli's to the PS2's, and I love them...

Is the suspension designed to handle non-run-flat tires? It does make a difference, as evidenced by the Z8

Dan, run-crap Flintstone 050A's are optional, thank god. Had a set on the Superamerica (only fitment), they are teh suxxor.
I put Pilot's on my Z8, made huge improvement. Z8 was a gorgeous car, but it fell all over itself at the limit. M5 outweighed it by hundreds, out ran it at limits. Maranello just put it to shame. Made a great noise and looked good next to the Shark though.

I put non-runflat RE 050 Pole Positions on the Z8 when time came to fit new tires. The positive change in handling and simple driving feel was remarkable.
Run flats, with their extra stiff sidewalls, by definition, will handle worse than real tires in any any situation, but especially when being driven hard with substantial g-forces under hard braking and rapid direction changes.

Sure - I completely agree with both of you on that. My only thought was whethe rthe suspension was designed with runflats in mind or not. If it's an option, I say go with the real deal sticky tires and deal with a flat if it happens. On the z8, however, it really was designed ot run with the runflats, so I'd keep them on.

L - z8 at the limit. what on earth? ;) that car is all about enjoying the boulevard cruising bro....

ps - you ever gonna return an email? dont make me beg :D

The Z8 school had PS on 'em, they were much more fun. Everything I have goes to it's limit. Z8 was pretty, great noise, spacers and real tires made huge difference. Used Range Rovers to limit off-road. Pretty funny in Junior League staff car.
PM me, I can't find EM. Never got call either, U have right #?

The Z8 was developed with MPS tires. Not run flats. I have the run flats on my 599 and I enjoy the extra peace of mind they give. I agree with your general commentary though. I would add, that I am sure you know, but if you go from run flats to non or the other way on the 599, you have got to have the car reprogrammed by the dealer. I believe it has to do with both the electronic suspension as well as the F1 Trac stability system.
