Have you asked for them to read you the original paint designation sticker under the hood?It should say "BLU TOUR DE FRANCE". (I can see it on the RH side of the photo near the left headlight, but it's not readable from my desktop.)
Black or Blue on Tan is a wash for me, there is no disadvantage to either.......so I seriously doubt it is a color change. Don't you think ?

There is some data (including the one above) that is doubtful correct - so I suspect your other source is right. I've yet to get the time to check all the data, but I can definitely flag this one as erroroneus. I've removed it from the index. Sorry about that.
