Hello everyone. Looks like our never ending hunt for our first F-car has reached a conclusion. After much consideration we decided to go straight for the 599 as it's what we really want. After some thorough research we found the car for us. It's a German Rosso Corsa/Beige 599 (just like we want it). It isn't the cheapest car out there and it isn't the newest one either (January 2007 with 20K miles +/-). However, the car is FULL of options (it even has the complete luggage set) and it has been configured almost EXACTLY how we'd do it if given the chance to order a new one. The fact that it's a high mileage car (in Ferrari terms at least) isn't really a problem if the car has been well-kept as it will be doing 20K miles YEARLY with us (don't be surprised if we'll get it past 200K miles). I'll be flying with my father to Germany on Thursday to check out the car and get a pre-purchase inspection done at the closest Ferrari dealership (Würzburg). If all goes well and the car is in good shape, the deal will be closed on Friday and we'll drive back to Monaco on Saturday. As I said we'll get a PPI done but...is there anything in particular you'd take a particular look at? Any suggestions? Any advice? I swear, I'm not going to sleep for a week now Thanks, Carlo
Congratulations. Great times ahead. Just love the thrill and rush you feel when you're close to getting a new car. Looking forward to see pictures of it soon. Cheers, M
Congrats man! I am coming down during the F1 weekend with my cousin who has a black 599, we should get together for a photoshoot! PM me if you're intersted.
Thanks I actually find the wait quite nerve wrecking... That would be great! If all checks-out fine and we get the car (knock on wood) I'll get in touch with you later
Congratulations- you will love the car. It is fantastic. Just know that driving the car in normal situations its fairly calm and many people mistake that for boring. Its not boring at all, its just very competent. If you can get to a place where you can push the car, you will find a real sporting car that likes to power out of corners- just not too much power!! General rule of thumb for corner exits- you should be 1 gear higher than you would think.
Thanks Jerry. Coming from my father's Merc S class DD (which we'll keep) and my Fiat 500, I'm sure that boredom won't be the problem On the contrary, I think I'll need some tranquilizers I can't wait. I really hope that once we get there all checks-out and the car is perfect as we're told. If all goes as planned and we get the car, the 1200km journey home (+/- 750miles) will surely be something memorable
Congrates, you going to give it abit of a blast on the autobahn's on the way back? or are you just aiming to get home in one piece lol. Still an amazing car good look with the purchase.
Yes...Autohaus Saggio. That's where we're getting the PPI done. If I remember I'll bring your regards I will, of course I'd say the latter Thanks
Thanks I heard that now Route Napoleon is full of speed cameras though From what I understand Monegasque plates get all the tickets in France just like a French plate would (for example in France Italian plates don't get tickets sent home unless the police stops you). I think we should try to go on the Route Napoleon whilst we still have the provisional German plates...
Carlo, I think that car is pretty much worn out with 20k miles on it! You might want to just buy that thing and let me take care of it for awhile. I do some clean up work on it and stuff for you. I mean the undercarriage is probably all dirty, heck the drivers seat anyway is probably all worn out. I would suffer through sitting in that sad worn out car for you! LOL! Man that sounds like a real winner! I am so jealous, it is exactly what I would pick too given the funds to do so! Hope you put many, many miles on it and it puts even more smiles on your face in the process! I bet it will! Drive in good health! James
Thank you for the kind words James I really appreciate your offer...but I wouldn't want to see you suffer such pains Btw, I already have an idiotic smile printed on my face...and it just won't go away! I think that I'm going to have a nervous brake-down. I can't wait!!!!!!!! I REALLY hope that the car will turn out to be in excellent condition as we are told it is. *knock on wood* Btw, we plan on taking the car to the Zanasi body shop in Modena to get any rock chips treated as well as painting the lower exhaust area like this car of another F-chatter: Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have another question... I'm presuming that the car will have a German instructions booklet. Do you know where I could get the instructions booklet in either Italian or English (maybe in PDF)? We don't have access to the owner's site and I don't know where else I could find it. We'd just like to have a glance through it. It might come in handy, you never know.
Carlo Congrats on the car. I can imagine how you cant wait! So you didnt decide to go for the Jo Macari car then?
I'm staying in London till 15th of May (with some trips to france, and possibly one to Poland meanwhile)
Thanks! No...we decided for a German car. Much nicer (IMO). I'll post a few pics in a minute. Macari's car had a good price...but it wasn't particularly nice (didn't like the interior) and it wasn't very well optioned either (at least compared to the German car). Plus it had two owners... We didn't see that car. This is the one we were previously looking at: http://www.joemacari.com/cars/ferrari_599GTB_0109a/cardescription.html
This is the one we'll getting (if the PPI proves that the car is perfect as we're told): Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
