Are you saying FBH is making customers buy a 599 before they will sell them a Scuderia?

No, I'm saying they are offering scud allocations with a one year delivery window as incentive to get them to buy 599's they currently have sitting. Rather than using ROTM 430's as incentive for buying a dusty 612 or a QP.

Now it's the top cars that are sitting.

*** Edit. Tell you what, anyone who executes on both cars now will be able to get the Enzo replacement when it arrives without being a 10+ year repeat buyer. Nice way to leapfrog the list if you play your cards right with them. But if someone goes in with a fat wallet acting like a holier than thou prick, they will still get bounced outta there on principle! :):):)

Is there a chance then that prices might be a lot (i mean, A LOT) lower for the F450? (Seeing how according to some posts above, they're having trouble selling units)

Everybody knows that these cars will do nothing but go up in price. Don't ALL Ferrari's? In fact, you should probably pay as much over sticker as you can stomach just to get the "comps" up. "Only" 499 cars? Let's get historical - 400 250 PF coupes, 300 250GTL's, 36 250 GTO's - yeah, this thinly disguised (and in reality de-contented) 430 Spider should set the world on fire, particularly given the current strength of the economy! Why is this discussion centered on the "investment" potential of these cars?
Just ask somebody who "invested" in a Stradale for probably $100K over sticker what percentage return he's receiving. If you're not going to track the car regularly, all you're gonna be buying is a car that will be significantly less enjoyable to drive under 99% of the conditions you'll encounter in real life, due to lowered ride height, lowered spoiler height, & reduced suspension compliance - not to mention reduced creature comforts sacrificed on the altar of weight reduction. Of course, you'll have bragging rights at the next FOC luncheon... Yeah, the upcoming F450, 0r 60, or whatever will be faster, more advanced, prettier, whatever-ier - but then the F490 due in 2015 will be - oh yeah, I could be dead by then! If there's anyone out there who thinks that the values of this current crop of F cars won't be destroyed by the next generation - I've got a 550 you can buy for $250K!!! LOL

Wait for the F450. It will have a folding hardtop and be more 'user friendly' to.

Well to begin with your screen name is Scuderia Spider, so that should answer your question. The Scuderia Spider 16m is by far going to worth alot more in the long run than the F450 will. Look at what the 360 s are currently selling at. The F450 will not hold its value as well as the 16m will. So if you want a better resale value and and a more unique vehicle, go with the Scud Spider 16m!

The Scud ins not just marketing - it is an awsome car - it beats the times of the Enzo on Ferraris own track

For long term prices, buy the Scud - just see how the CS is holding up compared to the standard 360

If i was to buy the spider 16m, i wouldn't accept to see the new f430 replacement different.

Rumors are saying that the new f430 replacement will have a hard retractable top like the california... Imagine receiving your spider 16m car with a soft top that is out of fashion.

How can Ferrari expect to sell a spider 16m without giving guarantees that its look is going to be close or similar to its new f430 replacement.

Before buying a spider 16m, i want guarantees from Ferrari that I am not buying an old car model, out of date, out of fashion.

My advice: If Ferrari does not give you guarantees that the look of its spider 16m is going to be close or similar to its new f430 replacement, buy the f430 replacement.

Just wait until they buy 2 Trillion of Toxic debt and spend 2 trillion on "Stimulus". At that point you may very well be able to get 250K for your 550. 250K then may not be quite the same as 250K today but that's another matter.

This is the funniest post that I have read in a long time. "I want guarantees from Ferrari that I am not buying an old car model..." "Soft top that is out of fashion..." Too much - !!!!

That is a very 2004 point of view. Have you driven a 430S in comparison with a CS or a 996GT3RS in comparison with a 997GT3RS? Advances in technology are amazing. The 04 versions are stiff skittish go karts in comparison to the 08 versions. The 430S is the best road car that I have ever driven - full stop. It is comfortable. I would not bother tracking my 430S -it is a road car - and I prefer race cars on the track

Yeah' Go grab that scud spyder mate'
Hold onto the spyder for 3 years or about there and than do a switcharoo to the replacement 450 I'll say.
Plus if the spyder appreciates, than you'll have a neat cashback to offset your next purchase.
Or spluge on your fellow beer bellies;-)

Cross your fingers and hope the SPUD doesn't do a SuperAmerica... I doubt it will, but you never know! ps - personally, I really like the SuperAmerica and have no axe to grind.

You are right - you never know! I personally don't care all that much what the 16M does in the aftermarket as I am planning to keep mine for a good long time. That is why I ordered boring Rosso Corsa - for a long-term keeper this colour has legs IMO

F430 successor will be a better car.....provided they have developed a new platform.

Based on previous interviews with A. Felisa (and Jim G. can correct me if I am wrong), the 430 Replacement will ride on a new platform as the 430 dates back to the 360 which started production a decade ago. Also the new car should be more extreme, smaller, and lighter according to the interview with Felisa.
