    Chigga, I love this (your ?) home.

    Vast, natural light, high ceilings, all modern devices, but it's not in my budget !

    However, when I take a look at these pics, I just wonder if someone lives there...

    Maybe the difference between an "oeuvre d'art" and a house with a soul ?

    Money can't buy you style,,

    It happens far too often, tearing down buildings that you simply can't reproduce. Specifically mid-century moderns.

    My goal? To purchase many of these properties before they do. I am open to having a collection of timeless architecture starting in California, then the globe... :)

    That's really sad.

    That's the type of house you buy for its classic-modern appeal. Sure, 99% of buyers would gut the inside and bring it current. However, the character of the house would still be there.

    I hope the new owner doesn't tear down any of those trees. I believe some of the best homes you can buy are by very old couples whom have taken pride in ownership for the past 30+ years.

    It was an amazing house. Definitely a classic-modern design. My wife is pretty torn up by it. Amazing that it's in a landfill now. When most houses hit the market they sit, but his one had half a dozen serious buyers bring in their builders, then in two weeks there were five contracts on it. Unheard of today. And unfortunately some of those trees had to come down since they were leaning toward the house - and some were darn big. On a positive note they let us make copies of the original blue prints... Maybe we'll build it in our 60's.

    If you want a house thats very original from the '60s go to Vegas. My stepmom is a realtor out there and we would go though some of the old neighborhoods and there were some houses that looked as if they hadn't had anything done to them in years, met some very interesting people who had been there for a long time. My dad restored a house from 1966 if I remember correctly. he tore up the carpet in the master closet and found a floor safe with $200 in it, something straight out of the movie Casino, the house was right down the street from the Tony Roma's where the car blew-up.

    I'm friends with the family who owns the property. As you can imagine, very stunning in person. Believe it or not, they live primarily in Hawaii and only visit from time to time.


    They are asking $75 million, and still for sale.

    Nice view.

    I didn't have a chance to hit PBSCW this year, I brought the wife and kids and the little one had a meltdown at Cav so we went home. Otherwise I would have said hello. I'm very sorry to have missed the Dino. Have been fortunate enough to have seen P4/5 a bunch now. I'll see the Dino someday.

    With weather like that are you missing Palm Beach yet? :D

    Are they living there while it's for sale?

    Do they have to sell?

    If I put that much time and energy into building a place like, I'd never want to sell. There isn't another place in the world that wouldn't be a "downgrade".

    in all honesty. i dont think i could live in a house that big... sure it would be awesome if you always had people over, or had a large family. but if it was me and the missus, then i think it would be a bit excessive.

    It's still furnished, but they don't live full-time. They own some other property locally, and internationally. But the maintenance on this house is a killer; 6 digits annually is a lot. The house comes with a complete Manual on how to operate everything. And no downgrade necessarily, but I know how I would do it differently if you gave me that same Lot.


    It's huge, and when occupied, it's still a given that certain areas don't get used often.



    Here's a house in Japan that I admire. The simplicity of this lifestyle is something I am definitely open to. And once I'm there, good luck contacting me.... :)

    Is that fireplace actually hanging from the ceiling? That is an interesting detail I don't recall seeing before....works well with the inverted thermometer shape. Very clean but too stark for my tastes.....but hell, I'm a Texan.
