Has anyone else heard that Sy is getting his mug repainted? The question he's asking is "Stripe or No Stripe" ...

I don't know... for that model mug, I think his would be the only mug with it.... what do you guys think?

Well, I'm here to tell you that I've been looking long and hard for the right example to come along and it ain't been easy. Calls all over about this one, due diligence on that one, plus the endless internet searches. Oh, and not to forget the 100s of emails from those ebay search agents. How many PPIs has it been?

Well, I finally found the "right" one and I got a good price too.

    Thanks Dave

I've heard that the guys over at 'LamboMug' are very, very different...

    Any truth to that?

I heard a rumor that due to the recession, almost all mugs have been coverted to the OTO program.

    Any truth to this?

    No idea on LamboMug.

I saw a Lambo mug at work. The drinker had tons of gold chains and was hitting on any co-worker wearing a skirt. For some reason some Lambo mug owners remind me of Camaro and Mustang mug drinkers.

Oh and the Lambo mug was a lease if I remember right.

I'm not really a hard core coffee drinker, that's my wife. I'm more of a Sunday drinker, but I can appreciate a fine cup. My wife sets things up the night before so that in the morning she (or I, as this morning) just push the button. Well this morning I'm having a cup and came across this thread. LMAO. Now you know what is going to happen next.

As a Ferrari guy I just began to feel like I'm missing out on something. Oh sure I have a Ferrari cup (picture included) and am very proud of it. It even has Shaughnessy's number on the back. I got it at the FCA 2006 Annual Meet but now I would like to have another one. As always, you have to consider the use intended. Of course I want the near unobtainable and know it will likely be very costly but I want an old racer. A real classic V-12 (Volume 12 oz.) with period race history. A team mug from LeMans or Monaco would be the ultimate.

A shiny new model is attractive too but I want something different, not a current production model. I want something really special with patina and a story. I would use it as intended taking it to the best vintage race events, and hopefully it will be seen on the podium often. Any help from my fellow tifosi would be hugely appreciated. I think I'll give Tom a call. I bet he'll have a trail to follow.

Man this addiction is demanding and fun!!

    Cheers,
    Stan

Great f-mug; really like the subtleness of white...gets you less attention from ticket writing coffee sippers. You should post here too: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=46674

Have the sale go through Roy or Rick... just make sure the mug is washed first.... well at least the title...

Roy and Rimoore are at it tooth and nail....amazing how much drama seems to surround EVERY transaction that one of those guys gets involved in....

Talk about a dark underbelly of the business...

Speaking of coffee... looking at Roy's posts....seems like he could do with JUST a LITTLE bit LESS of CAFFEINE....

Last night at the Wal Mart photo lab, I saw that you could get any of your own photos printed on an 11 oz ceramic coffee mug. I have some neat ideas, but my delima is if that would make it like drinking a replica. Even if I dont go around pretending it is a Ferrari mug, will it end up on a crappy replicas thread?

I recently washed my mug and now everytime I take it out I see a little puddle of fluid on the floor after it sits for a few minutes. The fluid is dark brown, and tastes like Brazilian. I only run Kona in it so I am confused. How do you bleed the system? Would a new tighter lid help? Could I have a lip problem? I have recently replaced the coasters.

Tried my hands waxing the black on black mug but the finish wasn't up to my expectation....
What product/products are you guys using to get that mirror like finish? Is the old way of spit and shine still the key?
While you're replying, do add your buffed up mug pics as well : )

(p.s. Urban Myth has it that on some mugs, buffing may cause a horn to grow on the head of the Prancing Horse , Is this true?)

My Rosso Corsa Ferrari Mug is finally here! Looks awesome.

The black grip feels great. The paintjob looks good, though there is some orangepeel. I love the shields. The seal is really tight. As soon as I finish typing this message, I'm going to take her for a spin.

Of course, it came with all of the books, and I actually read through them. The manual states that the mug must be hand washed. If you take it through one of those automated mug/dishwashers, it could damage the lid or seal. Maybe this is the problem that the OP had?

Also interesting that the manual states that the mug is not designed to hold extremly hot liquid, and that you shouldn't use bleach or cleaners containing chlorine. I think I'll just stick to the specified ferrari cleaners/lubricants. They may cost more, but are certainly worth it.

Anyway, I've got to give this thing a spin.

    Later,
    Dom

I am so ashamed. I do not even drink coffee and I have two genuine Ferrari coffee mugs. Is there a support group for this?

Also, what is the belt change interval on Ferrari mugs? Mine is rarely used, but some are telling me three years regardless of cups drunk and others insist the real number is five years since mine are fairly late serial number mugs. Also, is it really necessary to degree the handles or can you simply use the original factory marks on the handles? I would hate to be a victim of handle failure and its major consequences. Any special tools for this?

Being an owner is sometimes too tough technically for an average owner to know what is right. There can be a huge dollar difference if you get it wrong.

One of my mugs is red and one is black. Is there a difference in depreciation between a red and black mug? I want to make sure I do not lose too much of my $25.90 investment.

Are both of your mugs getting any drink time? B'cause I fear your mugs could actually be tagged as Cabinet Queens.
Now you do not want that!

Clearly, like all things Ferrari, resale red is the correct color choice. If you want to maximize your mug value, always buy red. And while in most cases, a tan interior is preferable, with mugs the black interior is best to preserve value and appearance.

There are shops that will strip and repaint mugs if you want to change one to red. Done properly, this can enhance the value and improve your odds of getting full valuewhen selling. Just be certain to use a shop that has an extensive track record with Ferrari mugs. Guys who can do a perfectly acceptable job on a Buick or Ford mug, even perhaps a Porsche, will often botch a Ferrari mug respray. Ask to see pictures of recent mugs they've painted, and check in their shop to see if they are currently doing any mug restorations. And finally, post here the name of any shop you're considering as many have already gone through this and may be able to lend a hand in the decision making process.

Dave- Thanks for the info on repainting my black mug. Do you recommend a 3M bra for the mug or are you a repaint the chips type?
