I believe you're on the right track with your thoughts. Usually the winter months are slow but lately - with all the clubs, common cars, etc. - the lot has been full by 7:15am. I can't imagine what the summer will be like if it's like this now. I think Frank makes alot of good points as well. For the sake of C&C I hope you're able to work it out. I used to congregate in the back left corner with the Ferrari guys but as you can see we no longer do so.

I just returned from C&C. Way too many "normal" cars in the display area. We had to close the "Display" lot at 7:15 because of overcrowding. Today was not the vision of C&C. We have decided, starting next Saturday only "pre" 1978 and "Special Classic Automobiles" will be allowed into the "Display" lot. All others will be directed towards the "Spectator" lot and parking structure. There is a new "Every Saturday" car show starting in Orange County that may appeal to many enthusiasts starting March 7th. Go to www.orangecountycarshow.com . Please pass the word.

i'm glad that you are planning on making C&C a higher quality gathering. before this morning, i was excited about NSX day, but when i got there i noticed that lamborghinis, porsches, ferraris, aston martins, etc. were being asked to leave because a lot of the spaces were taken up by these not-so-special japanese cars..i ended spending 95% percent of my time taking photos and videos of lamborghinis that could have been in nicer spots, so i thank you for planning on making C&C a more special event for all of us enthusiasts

I take that back what the OP had claimed. This change will be interesting. The above web site www.orangecountycarshow.com is not currently active. What's it all about?

Sorry, thats what was printed on the business card. Maybe it'll be activated soon. I understand it will be in the Orange County Market Place starting March 7th.

Glad to hear something is being done about the normal cars but what about the new high end stuff? Are you going to be turning away 360s 430s murcis gallardos and others that fall into this category??? Theres already many classic meets around Orange County, is cars and coffee becoming another classic car meet?

first i want to commend you for all the hard work you put into this!!im quite sure there are lots of better things you could do with your free time!that said im looking foward to the new format!!
even with all the late stuff taking up space there were some very sweet cars there..Zagato Lancia, the Ferrari Superfast,Tillacks 330gts heck even that GOGOMOBILE!!not just the cars but where else would you run into Reeves Callaway,VECTOR supercar designer Jerry Wiegert & longtime car guy Dave Roberts all standing in the same circle talking story!!with this new format it can only get more fun...

    I thought 360's, 430's, Murci's, and Gallardo's are normal cars in LA? ;)
Frankly, they are not that much more exciting to me than seeing a BMW and I normally just walk right by them unless something special is done to the car and I would be equally turned off by a large group of the same Ferrari's/Lambo's as I would be of a large group of Mustangs or whatever.

As someone who has had to get up seriously early in the morning and drive over an hour in a car(s) that is fairly unusual (and not fun to drive on the freeway) only to barely get a parking spot, I am glad to hear that some changes are going to be made. Shame that it means that the event will now have to be "policed" because a few people couldn't show some common courtesy and refrain from showing up in large groups though

That's OC Fairgrounds I'm assuming, where the swap meet's held: http://www.ocmarketplace.com/ Jeez, I'm pining for the o'l CC days.....

It's too bad the sob's across the street from C&C won't allow that parking lot for cars newer than '78's. That'd be a perfect solution but won't happen considering who owns it.

I arrived at 7am and cars were already being turned away.
I just turned around and took the 348 back home, waste of time.

I completely agree with the proposed changes - I myself have been going C&C less and less these days - perhaps due to the rows of "newer" cars that potentially took the space of something amazing. Or maybe it's because living in LA requires me to get up at 5:30am :)

My only question is why 1978 was chosen as the cutoff? If something spectacular as a '91 F40, or even an F50 shows up - will it be turned away?

Like other have said - thanks to all those involved in putting this together! It's by far one of my favorite things about living in this area!

I feel that the problem today was the car clubs that showed up other than the NSX crew (who appropriately reserved the corral). It had nothing to do with age/quality of cars - it just is somewhat disrespectful for the S2000/M3 groups showing up in HUGE force without prearrangement. There's a right way to do it, and they didn't. If they didn't crash the party, I don't think anyone would have had anything to complain about today - there would have been enough room for anyone.

To be completely honest, I'm somewhat disappointed by the new rules...

Me personally - I don't like the fact that more "common cars" show up. How often do we see S2000s and M3s every single day? It's not like they are anything special or rare...

can't agree with you more..i was very disappointed when i saw the long row s2000's at C&C..they could have been potential spots for very nice exotic cars that were turned away..a carrera gt left because the s2000's took up all that unreserved space..

Well said. I've organized several events in (F) clubs and believe it or not some non-paying/non-contributing attendees feel the volunteer organizer has a big target on his/her/their back. I appreciate your willlingness to take on these responsibilities and you should feel quite rewarded in that your problems are with over-popularity.

For those people commenting about special cars beyond 1978, I'll bet the organizers have a contingency plan for that.

I'm wondering if this isn't a way to shake out some people? They can always go back to current format.

Once again, a relatively small group of bad actors with a "center of the universe" problem ruin a good thing for everyone else. I hope if there is any loosening of the new rules, it won't come for a long time.

I actually don't care about the cars, seen one, seen 'em all - I go for the breakfast burritos, they're quite good in the cafeteria.

    Lol. "Normal cars"
When did this event become so elitist?

it's gone from enthusiasts getting together for a bit socializing in the early morning to having the elite show off. Give me a break.
The fact that there's even a "display" area emphasizes the fact that someone gets special treatment over another.

Leave it fair game. If someone want to wake up at some ungodly hour to get a spot they want let them. Simple.
If you have distaste for whatever cars that take up the main lot, then leave.

It's become very popular, everyone wants to check it out, and some want to play. You can't hog the playground all to yourselves. Let some of the other kids play.

But that is exactly what some people are doing by showing up with large groups of the same cars, they are hogging up the playground and not letting others who also made the effort to get down there early in to play
It has little to do with the type of car or anyone being elitist

The "normal" cars only started showing up because of the exotics, not the other way around. Exotics don't crash Mfest either. Anyone that uses elitist to describe any scene, obviously has no understanding of the word "respect".

I have been to some NSX, BMW and Vette events. They blow. I'd rather hang out with the exotics too. If all the exotics leave you'll find out quickly how little anyone cares about an S2000/M3/Mini (or similar normal car) meet.
