I had the strangest experience today when my wife and I took my Rosso Corsa 76 308 GTB out to get lunch.

Just as I pull into the parking lot of Houston's Restaurant in Pasadena, I hear some loud noises that sounded like my roof was "cracking". After I parked and got out, I see that there were seven areas of fresh large bird droppings directly on hood and roof of the car! Not sure if it was one bird with a large bowel movement, or a coordinated group effort!?!

I had to run into the restaurant and ask for a wet terrycloth towel to quickly wipe off the excrement! Luckily it was freshly Zaino'd so it cleaned off quickly without damage.

After I went home, the car was parked in the driveway for a while without incident. But when I pulled it into the garage late afternoon, the rear decklid got hit again by another bird! I had 5 other cars in the driveway and none of them get droppings...

Anyone else notice a high incidence of bird attacks on red or other color cars? I'll have to do a search on strange animal/bird behaviors.

At least on the human side, I did get a compliment from a kid at the restaurant, and none of those snide remarks as heard on another thread....

It's the economy -- unlike the rest of us, birds can still make a deposit on a Ferrari.

Great looking 308!!!! Glad you didn't have any permanent damage.

Ouuhh! Sounds bad, they asked one of them to follow you and to report them where you live. Obviously they also asked him to let you know that they know ...

Back on the human side, congrats for your nice car!

Great wheels on your 308 - which model are they and did they require adapting the wheel mounts?

    Boooo! :D

Actually, for some reason, birds do tend to single out the "shiny" surfaces to dump on. I'm not sure why.

I was miffed at one Toyota dealer in MA. When they had the Celica in the shop, they washed it. Sure 'nuff, the birds used it for bombing practice. Never had a problem when it was grungy.

The weird part is that the bird-brain drivers in DC metro are much the same: I get cut off in traffic a lot more often when the cars are freshly washed.

So now I don't wash the cars too often. A happy Ferrari is a driven Ferrari is a dirty Ferrari. ;)

And the EVO is a rally car -- It's supposed to look funky. :p

Thats Funny, but it explains the stares at the car while I was parking (with all the fresh poop on the shiny car).

Yes. 100% of bird strikes are on red or other color cars.

Thanks, these are 17" Kinesis K27 wheels, most popularly used on Porsche track cars. These were made specifically for the 308 application, with correct offsets and bolt pattern.

I originally bought a new set of Compomotive (288GTO style) wheels in 17", but the finish was poor on the centers so I sent them back. These Kinesis rims came up for sale here on FerrariAds, so I picked them up for now. Still have the original skinny 14" wheels/Michelin tires.

And you still don't want to go to law school?

John - thanks for the lead. I think Kinesis changed hands a while back, but are still around. I'm sure the car feels a lot better with a larger diameter wheel and more modern tire. You've got the nicer deep spoiler in front and no buttress spoiler, you should add the euro front and rear bumpers for perfect visual balance to the car.
