Just a FABULOUS clip. Bizarre the way they drop the drivetrain in with the body already on

    Great post, thx

The body does not 'drop' on the chassis. It is built on top of the chassis with the panels welded to the frame. As such the engine can only go in after the body is built.

Interesting to note some of the paint repairs after the car is finished and the body panel process is FAR from as accurate as it is now done.

My favorite was when the guy stood in the trunk to help the engine in.

:) Well, as every true Italian knows a trunks really no good unless it can hold and support a body.

That's common, the trunk is even that large that you can lay down and sleep in there...

I think maybe I like cars a bit too much ;)

I recall some photos that Roy posted from his trip to the Factory in 2007 that included some paint repairs. The "Audis" are far less "coach built" than the older cars were.

In fact, i've been told by someone who would know directly that the vast majority of Gallardo parts are not built by Lamborghini, but most of them are built outside of italy. The car is essentially only assembled at the Factory. The Murcielagi has much more built in house and much more hand built content.

    That is cool.

By the way, per your user name, I think I want to see pics of your car. Posting them here would be a nice treat!

I sold the Countach last year (may God forgive me) . The car has been photographed extensively on this forum and elsewhere. Anything you wish to know about the car is available on

    http://www.lamborghiniregistry.com/

just follow the links for 'cars', then 'countach', then 'LP400s', then 1121034

or just do a google search for 1121034 and you'll find it

    best wishes

I remember reading about that car. Seemed like an exceptional example.
Did it stay in the U.K.? (if you don't mind me asking?)

Just set up new scanner to mess with my film pictures. First try. Seems like a good place for this.

Edit. Hmmm, a little grainy. need to play with.

    Last I checked, still no.

I went thru a big box of car pictures this past weekend and found many nice photos I had forgotten about, which motivated me to hook up the scanner. I lost some quality in resizing to post, so when I get a chance again I'll get back on that and put up a couple more shots you will like. As 1121034 said, there are lots of pictures of this car floating around, but until someone complains... ;)
