You can definitely work your dealer down way more than 5k. Negotiation is key in car buying, but hey, what do I know, I'm only 19 ;) :D

In Europe at least it's impossible to unload them, new or used. Depreciation is terrible.

Check Ebay, I bet you can get one a year old with low miles for close to half ( in the low $40s).

no experience with RR but have him call a few wholesalers or dealers and see how much they'd give him as a trade in on that vehicle. If it were me i'd want to see the discount # starting with a 1, before i'd even consider it.
Here is the Manheim info for 09 RR SC

I would tell him to drop the price another 7 grand, fill the tank, wax it, cut an extra key and have it ready for delivery by noon tomorrow. If he balks or says he can't satisfy your list, tell him there are 5,000 exact vehicles in the US waiting for a buyer and you'll pick up one of those instead. Then leave.

Buy an 07 or 08 and a matching 86 328 for same price as an 09. In two years you will thank me, both financially and the amount of fun you will have.

Buying a RR new now is the equivalent of setting your money on fire. There are so many new unsold cars around, plus the model is getting old and due to a change soon which wont help depreciation.

Tell him to buy a gently used one and save 30k$

IMHO the ugly square piece of of British dung is not worth $5k to begin with...

Its not for me I already did the RR phase and have since moved on, just getting up to date info for a buddy who does'nt have the online resources I do here....His wife is the one who wants one and he just wants to keep her happy along with his 3 week old daughter(first kid). Car has to be brand new and a RR sport is just the right size for his wife, Escalade was way to big and a Jeep GC was to cheaply made in her opinion. I told him I thought $10k-$12k would be a starting point but had no idea since I had'nt looked in a long time....

parkerfe-she drove a prius up till she had the kid and would still drive one now but my friend wants her in a SUV for protection in a wreck...He is going through that way overprotective phase of his new, young family. The Prius is the safest car around for adults, but put his newborn baby in it and its not so safe anymore to him.

I concur. I can't think of another vehicle that would lose value as fast.

We agree on the stupidity of SUVs, for the most part. But the RR Sport is a handsome vehicle for those who (1) need a big offroad truck and (2) live near a Land Rover dealer or enjoy visiting one.

I agree with you, the lowered/chromed RR Sports are a joke. But I see quite a few stock versions here in San Diego and I like them.
