I watched this video of Gigi Gali driving his rally car today and was really impressed, especially the power slide st the end. Do you think it is more skill than luck, either way it is one hell of a power slide!

Hah! There are mad skilz in that vid but the slide was initiated too early and he had to stop it with the hydraulic rear brake lock. It came out fine, but it was dicey there for a few seconds.

The first half, (in-car) is quite good. His hands are loose on the wheel, he moves deliberately but does not over-correct or get behind. Pretty cool, but the powerslide was skill, followed by serious luck, finished up by some skill.:)

A lot of skill goes into pretending that you meant to do that. :D

I agree, he recovered from an error, but it took a sick amount of skill to do that. That is awesome.

i had my wheels come of the ground in a 911 once. while i didnt finish quite like that, it did scare the hell out of me. luckily i missed a tree and a mail box, and came to a stop in someones yard.

Yea, especially in the last part. I remember the first time I looked at it I had to look at it about 3 more times to make sure that what I saw was real. It has to rank as one of the greatest power slides in the history of the WRC.

Well I did the same thing, missing the tree and the mailbox, but I ended up back on the street! Guess I have more skills than you....

If he didn't start the slide so early he would have had to brake a lot more than he did, with the long slide, the 4 wheel drift and locking up the rear brake, he managed to have the correct speed heading into the turn. So if he left his turn until later he would have been in the ditch.

Skill is when luck becomes a habit!

Awesome video! By the sound of her voice, I'd bet that the copilot is wearing the pants at home...:D
