Just wondering what you carry for personal protection, I carry a Walther ppk/s .380 (S&W) in a custom wallet holster.
2 fists. Europe is slightly different to the states... Wouldnt mind having a silenced walter PPK though, so I could play James Bond.
A black Keltec P-380, about $240. (7 colors available?) It's small and light, but kicks like a mule; a fair trade off. Make sure to use high qaulity ammo while carrying, Cheaper ammo will occasionally jam. Used to carry the mini Glock 27 ($500ish) with the Lasermax sight ($300ish), but it was too heavy and thick for every day. The Lasermax also always turns on while practicing at the range, which is annoying. Both guns are reallly only good for close range situations, their main benefit being small and easily concealed. How do you like the PPK?
I've had my CCW permit for over 10 years, but never actually carried. Got it in case a psycho bothered one of my 2 girls, but with the increasing violence, it wouldn't be a bad idea to start carrying. I have an HKS compact in 40 caliber (night sights, DA, flush hammer, black), which is a great gun. Also have a Kimber compact 45 (s/s, night sights, SAO, exposed hammer), but it's a bit heavier and larger. Good day folks.
I've got a MN permit, but don't carry. However, if I did, Sig Sauer P239 in 9mm (loaded with Ranger T's in 147 gr.) Mike
I love my ppk/s, when it was new it would jam about every 20 rounds I had the feed ramp polished and have no problems now. It is heavy but has a great balance and build. you can't beat the feel of steel. I carry everyday and can forget its there. its also very accurate for its purpose. I shot a coke can off a traffic cone at 70 yards in two shots (3 times). it is my new favorite gun. two thumbs up.
I go before the gun board on the 20th of March. After that (Michigan is a shall issue state so I know that I will get it) I will be carrying a Glock 23.
Didn't realise so many of you carry weapons! Only thing I carry is 3 credit cards to use as throat slicers obv.
I was about to recommend, to the other ppk fan, getting a "real" Walther from Germany (in 7.62). My "Walther-American" ppk/s is made in VA, just outside Langley, and is pretty obviously a toy made for desk jockeys who dream of being 007. It cost half what a German made Walther ran, and is, IMO, a piece of junk. I had the feed ramp reshaped just to get it to feed at all. It still stove-pipes on me once every box (of 50) or so. I have to wear those fingerless leather gloves when shooting it, because the slide sliced the heck out of my thumb, the first time I shot it on the range. I've beveled off the sharp edges a bit, but it's still too small for my hand. It's accurate enough in SA mode, but the DA trigger pull is like trying to tug down a redwood -- probably so some paper pusher at Langley doesn't shoot himself in the foot. You can throw that gun more accurately than you can fire it DA. And you can't change mags quickly. An empty mag isn't heavy enough to drop out on its own -- you have to pull the mag out before you can insert another. I wanted something with a short barrel for indoor ranges, but in retrospect, I should have gone for a S&W 3913. I'm glad you're having success with yours, but I'd *never* trust my life to my ppk/s. When I had enough of a need to carry, I'd take the Springfield P9, or even a 1911. (A 1911 is surprisingly comfortable to carry.) These days, I can get by carrying an attitude. Just don't get one of these: Image Unavailable, Please Login (Sorry about the quality -- anigifs are pretty size limited.)
No guns, but in my truck I carry an 18" Maglite, a small hickory bat and a heavy 4-foot chain with a leather strap on one end. Unless I get shot, the chain is my favorite that's gonna REALLY hurt the unfortunate recipient!
I have a couple carry packages, which I rotate depending on the weather and situation: Wilson Combat Tactical Supergrade- The gun I enjoy carrying most. Heckler and Koch P7- Worn in summer months, or when I am wearing tighter fitting clothing Smith and Wesson 340PD revolver- Worn in summer months, or when I am running to the store. Fits in any pocket, lightweight, and packs a hell of a punch.
Ah crap, you beat me to it. That's me too. Although until recently I used to carry around a real big German Shepherd with me, pretty much all the time. I felt real protected with him around.
i have a permit, and carry various.45's and .380's, depending on how i am dressed and where i am going. i hope i NEVER ever "NEED" a firearm, but i would hate to have to NEED it and not HAVE it. stay safe.
Taurus PT111 9mm Titanium with night sights. Very light and easy to carry but the recoil is bit more then the norm do to the reduced weight.
Choice of: 9MM Desert Eagle Baby Eagle (the one I carry the most) H&K USP .45 Tactical Desert Eagle .50 Colt .357 Python Just depends on the day. Usually the 9mm does just fine.
I'm not sure about your local laws but carrying weapons is "carrying weapons". The flashlight should be OK but the bat and chain could land you in trouble if used, even in defense. I would toss them both, keep the flashlight and put a "leverage bar" in your trunk with your jack and wheel wrench, that should be legal. If questioned, say you picked up a flat a few months ago and had to get a taxi home for the bar because you couldn't shake the lug nuts loose, now you keep it with your tools in case of another flat tire.
Today i had on sweat pants so it was a kel tec 380 in a pocket holster. Usually its a Colt New Agent, 3" 1911 or a HK P7.
