http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/10022009/58/glock-makes-hay-sun-shines.html After the first test of the year was disrupted by rain in Portugal, the team decamped to the Middle East in order to escape the harsh European winter. After a brief morning delay when the circuit was shrouded in fog, the team were able to take advantage of a day of warm sunny weather, putting the TF109 through its paces and clocking up 82 laps of set-up work on the new car. Glock, fastest on the day with a best lap of 1:33.501s, is back behind the wheel on Wednesday. "We did a lot of set-up work and in the end we found a good direction," Glock said. "The car felt quite consistent so this is already a positive sign. "We got through a lot of laps so this was an encouraging start to the test." Team-mate Robert Kubica recorded a best lap of 1:33.702s, two-tenths off the ultimate pace, and will be at the wheel of the F1.09 again on Wednesday and Thursday. "It was the first time I was able to drive the new car in warm weather," Kubica said after completing 95 laps. "We learned a lot about the car's behaviour in these conditions, so overall it was a good day." Times: 1 . T. Glock - Toyota TF109 - 1:33.501 (+ 0.000 ) - 82 laps 2 . F. Massa - Ferrari F60 - 1:33.615 (+ 0.114 ) - 98 laps 3 . R. Kubica - BMW Sauber F1.09 - 1:33.702 (+ 0.201 ) - 95 laps. Eurosport Good chance he might be in a Mclaren seat very soon.
Test times say very little over performance of a car/driver... For all we know glocks quickest time was set with 3 laps of fuel while for instance kubica's time could have been set while he was testing for long distance race strategies..
