    Hi everyone,

I just bought Frederic Brandely's book about the Monica 560 (edition Hypolais - truly recommend it!) and it reminded me that I have always thought that the Islero has something in common with the Monica 560. The front end is somewhat similar...

You can even notice on the Monica drawing which was published in "L'auto-journal" from July 1972 that the designer even fitted Miura style wheels!

Very nice, and thanks for sharing!

This week I have seen the engine of #6348 here in Holland, completely rebuilded.
    These engines are HUGE!!!!!
Body of the car will be next.

    Ciao!

Apparently these Dutch guys are less quick on that deal compared to Fortis deal...
here is #6348 engine bay I've shooted in august 2007...close 18 months to rebuilt it
I'm assuming they went on holidays for 15 months...Top Motors is rebuilding an engine within 3 months !

    Hi Olivier!

The fact that I saw it only last week does not mean it took them 18 months to rebuild it...but Top Motors sure is fast!
How is the condition of the engine of your Le Mans Islero #6009?
Does it need complete rebuild as well? Islero 500 GT ? Turbo's?
Are you allowed to strip the car, remove interior etc to safe weight?
How standard must the car be when entered in the Historic Le Mans?

I promise you I will be there in Le Mans to see it all happen!
Nice opportunity to organise a BIG Islero meeting by the way!

    Ciao!
    Marcel

At Retromobile, I've met yesterday people of SAHV Le Mans Classic, they should come back to me next week about :
    1° eligibility
2° category vacancy (more than 500 cars fees collected ???)
    3° modifications requested
just another week to wait for...

What do you think would be a fair price for this car in the current condition?

In Europe we can pay up to 40.000 US$ maximum for its current condition.
Over last 2 years, I already saw some brokers asking 58.000 US$ and selling for similar condition !!!

In the good old days, BEFORE the economic collapse, that functional, presentable Islero in Padova sold for around $71K last year.
This Ebay car will need an engine rebuild ($20K to $30K) and who knows how many missing parts. The interior is marginal at best. I love the old Chevy automatic shifter. God knows it should also be repainted. Then you're probably looking at $3K in transport costs to civilization in the USA.
You guys have grande testicoli suggesting this is a $40K car.
The guy with the current $30K bid is optimistic.

First Islero #6387 that sold at Padova wasn't a great car. Second the auction tool place AFTER (Oct. 25th) the market tanked. In August Islero #6267 sold at Gooding for $205k. That car was a nice driver not a Concours car.

I don't know from where you get price quotation for rebuilt, probably from "snurfs planet", just have a look at Bobileff pricelist or Lecoq in France...If you rebuilt bare to metal to have a concourse Islero, that will cost you close 100.000 US$. If you pay less than that amount, you only have a driving & presentable car nothing else. As a matter of fact, I know some Islero deals that were sold in between 111.000 US$ up to 130.000 US$. I don't believe this Ebay guy is optimistic...it worths that and there is a real demand for Islero. Thanks God to Lou Herrin who is doing a great job with his Registry...we know there are only few survivors of this wonderful Classic Lambo !

i think the 40k $ top is realistic
this does not mean you could not get upside down with the cost in a well done complete restoration

this is a closed box....i wish best of luck for the buyer and i will respect anyone that will take care of this car (may be a good deal or a bad one ...nobody really knows now ...except the seller may be;) )

isleros were for many years the poor sisters of the V12 lambos with the espada and jaramas

things are different now and isleros left the jarama-espada's values far away

i am not in love with them and do not own one but in my opinion a good islero is worth as much as a good 5000S weber 2v countach (or just slightly less) in Europe and more in the US !

    correct

the padova car was not a bad deal imo

it must be said that 205k $ is not the regular market value for a good driver today

Simply go to the Lamborghini Registry, it is the feature car under Islero. Blue with pigskin.
