Does this mean Peter Hamilton's, excuse me, Peter Windsor's participation on SpeedTV will be ending? I can't see him being a Team Principal (or whatever his title will be), and still be doing the commentary for Speed.

I like Peter, and will miss him if he's no longer doing his pre-race pitwalks, and fawning all over Lewis.

WOW are you sure everyone here is an F1 fan or just a critic?

I am amazed at how there are more negative or teasing posts then there are positive.

F1 is going through some MAJOR changes.

Who on this board still thinks that ferrari has over a $300M budget? or any team for that matter?

The world has changed and so has Formula 1. Those budgets will be more realistic and development will be limited and better focused.

If they can raise the money to get on the grid then I think they will do well.

Bernie and Max WANT privateer teams more than anything.

Please your thoughts cause these are some interesting times for the sport

True but no matter what, a team based in the U S will be at a disadvantage logistically.

Which is one reason why traditional F1 fans are becoming critics.

"Cost cutting" measures which cause even *more* re-engineering costs, micro-managing the season scores, constant changes to rule which just aren't working, .... and a persistent failure to address changes that are needed (such as permanent stewards), all add up to a whole lot to criticize.

F1 is being run less like a racing series and more like a TV series.

Remember the ancient curse?: "May you live in interesting times".

.....well, Windsor did say they understood F1 was 'less a sport' and more "entertainment"....and for sure, speedtv is more about entertainment than about accurate reporting of a sports event....(can you say pinks?)

    bah humbug....

Well to be fair, yes rule changes have caused more spending traditionally.

However there isnt the money that there was anymore, so now there wont be anymore over engineering a single part.

They will focus on areas they can spend money and develop, its just those areas will be very limited.

It would be one thing if they had $200M in the bank to play with but they dont have that anymore, thats why the rules are being so embraced.

They need to put Danica Patrick in that car. I do not care if she comes in last every race, or even if she does not finish (both of which would be likely). The amount of publicity would be a much needed boost in the sport.

There is a 10 day countdown on their website and Honda has 10 days left before they announce their future plans!

    Coincidence? I hope not!

    So....

You want a US team, based in Charlotte, and you buy the Honda deal, it would make no sense to uproot everything from its purpose built facility and local logistical suppliers, and lay off all the staff (having no work permits for the US) and drop it into Charlotte.......never mind conflicts in the management/design protocols....

Unless it's only the marketing department in Charlotte, and the actual racing operation is elsewhere.

But they're talking about a team for 2010, and the Honda deal would require putting a team on the grid in 2009, wouldn't it?

You got a point there arthur. I'm just saying I hope its not a coincidence.

And DGS got a point too, USF1 is planned for 2010.

We'll find out in 10 days!!;) can't wait.

That's a classy car...with sponsors like Chick-Fil-e and IHOP. Let's hope Mr. Photoshop who designed that mockup isn't in the design dept for the real team if it ever happens.

BTW all, this will never happen. If the CEO's are taking heat from Congress and the public for having private jets on the company balance sheet, how on earth can they ever support an F1 racing team. Wishful thinking though...

Lets stop criticizing and start supporting! I for one need a US based F1 race in my life again. Who the heck cares who owns it, who is in the car or who the team employs as long as we have a team. Stop looking at your IRA statements and getting down in the mouth. Let's be more positve here and get back to having a few beverages & fun watching F1 in the US. My Ferrari misses the races and and I can support more than one team.

There are alot of big companies that can still afford to sponser a F1 team. UPS, FedEx. Don't forget Honda & Toyota make cars in the US. They can still have their cake and eat it too, just now own a team outright. I'm surprised Toyota hasn't backed away from F1 yet.

You go USF1 ! disregard all these naysayers. Let them watch it on the TV, I'll see you at the Track!!!

Don't tell the Fedex employees that, they'll want their pay back to last years levels........Let alone the many thousands of unemployed or underemployed Honda/Toyota workers.....

Oh, not forgetting all those banks, ING, HSBC, RBS, good way to upset the government money.....
