I agree, there are not as many of these cars out there, and their owners are not likely to just dump them.

Well buying a car instead of waiting for the prices to go down will help the economy. Sort of a wicked charity...

My dads black 612 is for sale on ebay. I don't know if I'm allowed to post an official for sale thread, price, or link so I won't.

Still nothing around 120K, although a few wekks ago I was advised by my local dealer that one with close to 20K mi was being offered around 110K. However, the seller decided to sell to a friend instead.

I am notoriously bad about guessing what people mean, rather I prefer them just being plain about it. Too many languages rattling around in my head. :) By the way, nice meeting you (sort of) at the garage tour in Seattle. I was the one in the 612 using the son as a rear view spotter. :) By the way, I really like the combo on your car and the fact you know what a gas pedal is. :D:D

I've had my 612 for sale for several months and the best offer I've had is $135k which I passed on. It's a 2005 with 15k miles, shields, tubi, daytone seats, navi, parking sensors.

And nice sort of meeting you too. I didn't put it together until after you had pulled out of the lot; I'm getting slower in my old age; okay for a job that requires deep reflective thought, but not very good for being in a fast moving business environment. A lot of Homer Simpson "DOH!" moments.

Has your latest acquisition, the 612, met your expections? The F1 looked like it worked pretty smoothly as you backed out and took off and that was one of the things I had on my mind about getting an F1. (I'd heard that the early f1s and Maser cambiocorsas were pretty bad in parking lot maneuvers). I spent a month in an apartment on Nob Hill in SF and I really appreciated my Porsche's tiptronic in uphill traffic. Made me see the real advantages of a good automatic; I would have been really nervous with a manual or f1 with cars two feet from my bumper.

And thanks for the compliments on the 456's color combo; the unique cuoio-sabbia-special order burnt siena interior is what closed the deal for me on the car, even though I wasn't initially excited about grigio ingrid. And yes, I do like the loud pedal.

BTW, I let my subscription lapse, not because I'm cheap, but because I never wanted to be tempted to post in P&R again. I was becoming too much of a cantankerous geezer. I've become a more pleasant person already and it's only been two weeks.

I know of two being OFFERED at $129K: a grigio ingrid F1 and a rosso rubino manual, both with mileage in the 30s. Both look strikingly individual, maybe too striking for some, which is why they may not be moving, even at those prices.

The F1's BIN for $129.9 on ebay; the manual's at fantasy junction. I'm guessing an offer of $115-120 would get you either car. I'm very tempted myself, but I promised my wife a few goodies of her own first.

I visit P&R less as well. As to the F1, it works great and the newer F1 works even bettter. Maybe in a year or two I will order an OTO. :)

No, I did not get that one as I prefer the F-1, and also I do not like red on Ferrari, especially for GT. My local dealer guy advised me to hold off a few weeks because he said he may be able to get ones for around 115K-125K. So I wait for him. It seems that both of us do have the same 612 goal.

Based on MY and mileage 135K is respectable.

I don't like rosso corsa on GTs either, especially the 612, since it is so large; however, the rosso rubino is really a very different color and effect, but.....each to his own taste. The grigio ingrid/iroko-naturale with F1 tranny is still on ebay.

Very witty response. I sincerely hope you do not lose too much money on the sale. If I get a 612, I will have to sell and take a big loss on my 456 as well.

My humble, non-expert-backed prediction is if you wait long enough, 612s will be comfortably under 100K.
Fanstastic cars, for sure. But they're not melt-your-face gorgeous, and the 2+2 config will always hurt value.
Not enough enthusiasts will covet them.
Look at 512TRs vs. early 550s. They're coveted by enough Tifosi to keep the prices at or above their younger brother replacement.
My hunch is it's seen as the ultimate for the guys who grew up loving Testarossas, but by now see the styling as just a little too 80s dated, and the performance not special enough. And the 512TR addressed some of those detractors. Yes, I'm sure the more limited production run helps too, but I think it's more than that. Same goes for 328s doing as well as 348s. Far fewer 348 fans out there, even though it's faster, newer. Just suffers by comparison.

Just when I thought a 6-speed 456GT was a year away for me, at a ridiculously low $45 to 55k budget (my god, it's almost free), I'm now thinking wait three more years and get a 612 for $75K. Question is, will the 6-speed be cheaper (no one wants one) or more (fewer of them, wanted by enthusiasts)?

As an ever-ready 612 buyer, I would love to purchase one or two with your under $100K indication, but I do not think so, at least for a long, long time. Long, long time means one or two years in my thinking. I may be lucky, very lucky in the next few more weeks, to get one for under 120K with less than 15K.

    Wow.
If you can get one now like that, then $75K in 48 months might not be that crazy.
Well, that price for that car is crazy.

In three more years, the oldest 612s-- 2005-- will be seven years old. $75k for a 7 year old 2+2 Ferrari sounds about right to me.

cars depreciate. the money you save by waiting 4 years is completely not worth the joy you sacrifice in the process. life is too short to care about depreciation.

Yes, we know. Some of us here may have already been enjoying various types of cars, including Ferraris. This is just for discussion purposes and the joy of getting another extra Ferrari for the fun use of money, whether it is 100K or 200K or more.

yes, and many of us actually need those 4 years to afford it.
