GRATS! do u need to get some hood pins too? i hear that carbon fiber hoods need reinforcements in case the factory latch cracks the carbon hood side of the latch. tho in your pics, your hood and latch parts seem to be made very well...so u might not.

another issue is yellowing of the resin in the clear. Ala Carrera GT in Porsches case.

If you paint it, it would look good. If not, get some CF mirrors, I think that would set it off some more.

I personally think it's a little contrasty on a red car. On a black car you might be able to pull it off (i.e. leaving it raw). As much as I like carbon fiber I think you need to paint it to match the car in this case. On the plus side, you will certainly blend in well at the local street racer gatherings on Saturday night.

Was this done to save weight on the car or just because you wanted to be able to tell people you had a CF hood?

The quality appears very good from the photos. Do you mind disclosing the cost of the hood?

    Only a 6 lbs savings?

You could drop 10 lbs in a couple of weeks at the gym...and that cost alot less...:D

Just prior to opening thi thread I thought its goon looka like a jap car....But I am impressed.
Turned out great!... And I can see the weave pattern is of quality . not some low quality carbon fibre for carbon fibre sake.
    Who's the vendor?

You can't honestly think that looks better than the stock hood...? If you were racing for a living, and it saved you 100 lbs, maybe, but short of that, why would you do this? But I will say...I YOU like it, then you made a good decision...enjoy!

+1 I guess I just don't understand what you were going for with the CF hood. I would paint it asap.

    Enjoy and congrats.

Heading out to snap some more pictures of the hood in a bit.

To answer a couple of your questions.
    - I have always been an advocate of painting carbon but IMO in person it does look really trick, maybe the photos just don't do it justice.
    - As to where I got it from.. I design autmotive parts for a living, so I actually built this hood and one other design for my 360 and my dads 430.
    - I don't want to say too much because I'm not a sponsor yet.

To be honest, confusing for me. Not sure why you went for this since weight saving 6lb is not issue and the look is strange. But maybe in person is different......

BTW i know its crazy idea, but full carbon body would look killer ;)

Beautiful job on the cf. Looks are subjective and if you like it, no worries about the feedback. My only thought, and I like exposed cf, is that red may be the wrong color for unpainted cf. It it were black or titanium or silver it would be more tone on tone kind of look.
    Anyway, nice work.
