Hey come on now, the "Baltic index" will surely show more F40's being sold and being shipped more importantly :) There is no way we went off topic!!!

It depends who ate the first half. If it was Larry the Cable guy I'd replace the half eaten section. If it was Scarlett Joahanssen I'd leave it as is.

...sorry Jim, don't mean to get into an argument on the subject, but China is seemingly heading for one of the great all time economic/social meltdowns in world history. The government is desperately attempting to manipulate many different economic statistics in hopes of the world economy reviving....because if it doesn't, the 'peasants' will be revolting (sic) sooner than a chinese fire-cracker prematurely explodes! Nearly every area of their economy is slowing dramatically, with resulting mass layoffs and business owners fleeing their premises for fear of lynching. A long time contact in Hong Kong (chinese, well connected to the mainland) is truly fearful of what is developing, and he feels the country will be in turmoil later this year or next. I hope he's wrong...but the latest GDP numbers out of China are frightful...and those are the ones from the Government....so what the real situation is is anybodys guess. Watch the trans-shipping numbers out of HK...they will tell you more than the BDI i would suggest...

Interestingly the day after I posted, Bloomberg had an article on what direction China's GDP has headed recently and unlike ours it's beginning to move up. Their Iron Ore stockpiles are down sharply since November and the price of their steel is up. (One of the stocks I bought more of is a iron ore miner. It traded in November at 1.29, last night it traded at 2.81). I agree with your analyse of what will happen if they don't keep their people working and fed but the the HUGE advantage they have over the rest of us is that they have saved a MASSIVE amount of money over the years parked in US treasuries and they can and will use that horde to build highways, railroads and other infrastructure without having to print money. The reason that the BDI is more important in the short run is that is shows that they are importing raw materials and those raw materials will keep their people working and fed. Their recent purchase of RIO's mining assets also shows that.

There is one thing you can bet your kidneys on. If what you say about China's economy comes to pass F 40's will trade at ZERO.

    Best!

Wal Mart should change its name to China Mart. China probably will be the richest Nation in 10 years or more the Us is a mess with so many illegals and social programs California is a model of what not to do.
Back to F40s it s about time they get cheap new v8s are faster and more reliable plus they are getting a bit dated looking, though many show low miles on the odometer which I am sure should be multiplied by 7 have been run hard and beat on they should be a 200k car at most

....I respectfully refer you to todays issue of Barron's, page 4, upper right hand corner paragraph....! I would quickly add that I fervently hope you are correct in your analysis.

....don't believe any mileage numbers on F40's. I test drove one in the mid 90's, and found the speedometer disconnected. When I asked why, it was explained that they didn't feel that 'test mileage' should count towards the total....??

Then you completely miss the point on why the F40 is so much more special than a new V8 scud....I agree that many have been clocked though and precisely why I turned down a few examples before I bought mine

Never said the f40 isn't a cool ferrari just not worth 300k plus now, they are just a hot rodded 308, they are not that rare and many have been thrashed funny you never see one over 15k miles on the odometer ill bet many have 50k plus on them

.....hmm, couldn't disagree more on this point. I eventually bought one of the last ones built. It was without a doubt the most viceral, exciting car i've ever owned. Definately the one I wish I hadn't sold. I doubt there will be another car like it. I would say however that some of the prices got a bit 'over the top' this past year or so...after all, there were almost 1500 built. As an aside, a dealer in the UK has a 91 car for sale, great condition, about 12k miles for about usd $315K. Prices will continue to come down... 'Scud' or F40....no contest...go for the 'antique'...!!

Gee how's that? They should be under 300k or are a hotrodded 308? 1500 cars is not rare in comparison to 30 gtos or even 300 Enzos The f40 certainly kicks azzz and is noo comparison to the big heavy 550\456 cruisers F made

Wow! You have just proven how ignorant you. You obviously have never driven an F40 and you probably have never even ridden in one. The car is much more visceral than an Enzo or any of the modern V8's.

And just to get the facts straight since you obviously don't know what you are talking about, there were 400+ Enzos made, not 300.

In case you're having trouble finding the period on your keyboard, it's just below the L.
