GT4 interior questions

Hi!

Me first post here. I am currently restoring my interior in my 1975 GT4 chassis no 10008. I need help from you guys! I have three. questions.

1. What is the switch on the console for (behind where I have blanked of my stereo se attached picture)? No stereo with sports exhaust!-)
2. Interior lights, where do I get them? some of mine have broken in the bulb fixings? Fiat parts???
3. I can get new Euro bumpers (to a price, we are taking 1000 Euros here). My car is an early 1975 with US bumpers. What do I need of fixings and how much must I do to the bodywork to fit them?

Hi Christer welcome to F-Chat and to the GT4 Brotherhood
A1.Switches are as follows:A/C switches,Electric aerial switch,Power windows x2,the round hole is for the lighter,the rectangular is for the rear screen demister,to the left of the handbrake lever there is the choke lever.
A2.The interior switches are pretty hard to come by and I dont believe they cross over on any other car and I have been looking.Last year I found a pair of new old stock on Ebay but have not seen any more since.Try Eurospares in the UK as they usually part out.Ferrari UK may even have them as well
A3.As far as I know you shouldn't have to much trouble fitting the front bar,I believe there is two bump shocks that can be modified in order to recess the front bar.I believe that the rear is much more difficult and requires panel work to the rear lower quarter panel.My car is a 74 Series 1 and in Australia it was Euro spec so I cant be certain what work is needed to make it look Euro

Then the switch is for the arial.

And I have to look at my old interior lights and try to fix them.

Concerning the Euro bumpers I just might keep it US spec. Squint my eyes and pretend it is pretty. It is original any way! If anybody has done the switch, I would love the info. I have had vintage Alfas, Porsches, Maseratis and Lamborghinis but this is my first Ferrari. White with black leather interior. It goes nicely with my Alfa Giulia GT 1750 race car in white as well!-)

The easiest mod for a US bumpered car is to push them in. It requires tapping a hole into the body of the bumper shock, pushing the bumper in and then using a set screw in the hole.

This mod makes the car look MUCH nicer compared to the "picnic table'' look that the US spec bumpers provide.

The GT4 registry last showed the car in Norway....is that where you are located?

Jim, kinda off-thread here but do you know of a functional Mondial registry? My GTB is registered with Robert's 308GTB Registry but the only thing I have seen for the Mondial is a pale attempt.

 

The only one I've personally seen is Mondialregistry.org (Russ Turner's site<SNJ5 on FChat>)

Hi Jim,

Nice tip, luckily I do not have the worst US version of the "picnic table" so i will push the bumpers inn. The car is in Norway and receive a rolling restoration. I will not do the total rebuild thing..again. In my view (if not needed) it takes the cars soul and leaves it stranded for years...The interior is now all new! And even nicer than Ferrari did it original. Before light blue, now black with grey carpets with black lining. As original but with some ventilated Zagato leather on the seats. The plan now is to make it run the best it can and have a nice weekend/trip toy. It is already fast to be a 308 (I have tried several so I should know).

Well, the Alfa is my race car with all of the goodies you can put into it but still drivable on the street. Very lively (a 80% diff), hot engine and lots of fun! I think those old Bertone Alfas are the best car you can get for the price you pay. And it is a Bertone design.....

I just noticed the DINO embossed in the headrests.....SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those seats look gorgeous. My leather looks good, its just the padding that is worn. One of these days I'll have them re-stuffed.

The interior lights are available from Pelican Parts. They are almost the same but are black (they ran out of chrome ones). The ones you need are from a 911 Targa.

What cars got the rear defrost switch in the console? Mine has it on the dash. Cars with fog lights and the fog light switch is in the dash? I thought just series two cars had the switch in the console, but this serial number seems like it should be a series 1.

Great stuff guys. Porsche parts in a Ferrari, can one belive it! I am going to order all of them new then. Got the rest of the interior tonight so then it is off to the garage. 40 cm of snow outside and minus 15 so I should not be in a hurry!-)

Picture of the car, well...eh no. I think I have to work my magic on it before I will let the forum see it. It needs some god old TLC to say at least.

Well I give you a interior picture as it is before I put the goodies in. Lots of cleaning to get here but everything seems fresh underneath the old carpets. This might turn out good in the end.

#10008 should have the defroster switch (Lucas toggle type) on the dash (as per Brian's culled ebay photo). 1975 cars HAD the hole on the centre console for the newer defroster switch, but this was covered up with the leather upholstery (which should have been done in 10008's case).

After 1976, the set-up was changed to an illuminated rocker-style defroster switch on the centre console and the switch on the dashboard became a two-speed switch for the windshield wipers. The windshield wiper stalk on the steering column now had a revised operating pattern which was: off, intermittent (speeds controlled by dash toggle switch), and continuous. 1975 cars had: off, slow, fast (all continuous operation).

 

Peter my car is a 74 series 1 and it has the illuminated rocker switch on the centre console and my dash switches are Hazard,Fan and Fog.Maybe Euro spec cars were different.

 

I suppose that's the case. I was refering to the 1976 U.S. Owner's Supplement manual (#126/76) and this is what is shown.

 

FWIW...... I can highly recomment Pelican Parts. I have bought a fair bit from them for my M3. I found their service and pricing excellent......
