For those of you looking for "perfect" CS's, realize that these cars are meant to be driven hard and many have been or will be tracked. If you're not planning to do that yourself when you get the car, then maybe you shouldn't bother. Not sure if there is such a desire for "no stories", one owner, never tracked 250 SWB's, which is my personal dream Ferrari, but I doubt any exist that meet all of these criteria.
By the way, recently sold my CS after 5 great years of ownership; market for nice average mile cars w/good maintenance is about $150K to $160K retail - lower for higher miles, slightly higher for museum pieces. Also, these cars are out of warranty, and many are not fully sorted if they haven't been driven quite a bit. Add $10K to $15K in sorting maintenance for non-driven cars (ask me how I know). Best.

 

Bobbyd, this definitely appears to be your "old" CS... not too many with tan seats, tan headliner and red stitching.

stupid question....if one were to purchase a red cs..would it devalue the car to get the challenge stripe painted on?

Don't paint it just get a decal stripe. looks just as good and "No paintwork"

 

Typically a stock or unmodified Ferrari will be more desirable and retain a higher market value. The factory stripe is actually vinyl, (not painted) with several coats of clear-coat applied to create a finished 'paint like' stripe. Many owners of non OEM stripe cars have elected to merely purchase a vinyl stripe and apply without clear-coat allowing the option to remove at will. However, predicated on UV exposure and time this shortcut application may ultimately cause an expensive respray should the stripe be removed.

 

True..but unless you're planning on leaving your car out all day the amount of UV won't bother most garage queens..also I spoke to Dave at Premeir (Ferrari body shop in Southern Ca.) who mentioned that he has installed several aftermarket stripes which look just as good and cost a lot less..to do it right is a $7-8K job.

 

I saw an aftermarket stripe kit for $350 on ebay is this the same kit everyone is talking about?

Not correct. Cavallino is wrong. Carbon (NNO) has 360+ U.S. vins recorded for U.S. cars by themselves. If there were only 378 cars worldwide that means there are only 12 cars outside the U.S. There are at least 370-380 U.S. cars and at least twice that many outside the U.S.

 

There will be one more on the market tomorrow....need to get pics and will post to FerrariAds. 7500 mile, "no stories" car previously acquired from Watt - selling to get another car.

You are incorrect. Check your facts before posting something like this...

NNO has been tracking VINs on Challenge Stradales and already had 366 US CS numbers and about 773 on a worldwide basis which most believe is about 50% of the actual production number. He also quotes Ferrari as stating they built 1,200-1,300 Challenge Stradales.

Some more tidbits to prove your number is completely off target:

1. Ferrari of UK confirms 119 CS in Great Britain alone
2. Other UK spec cars equal at least 9 (South Africa, HK, etc)
3. Most believe the US total was between 370-400 cars
4. Ferrari Road and Racing Book (Published in 2005) states that exactly 1274 Challenge Stradales were built

And finally, here is a quote from Guissepe Bonollo, Chief of Strategy at Ferrari when talking to EVO:
"A total of 17,500 360s were produced over 5 years of production.10,000 were coupes, made up of 8,500 standard coupes, 1200 Challenge Stradales and 300 race cars.The remaining 7,500 were Spiders."

That's more like it; guaranteed there were more than 378 CS's produced for the world. Plus, just because that's the number published in Cavallino does not translate to an accurate count. As much as I respect that publication, I am confident that is an incorrect figure that is being published.

 

4 RHD cards came into New Zealand. 1 crashed (yellow) and 3 left. One is RC with no stripe, another is RS with stripe. Not sure about the other but red of some kind apparently.

 

Apparently 12 in Australia (RHD) but there was a high profile news story about a kid crashing one so not sure if this leaves 11. 2 of these are currently for sale.

 

Back up to nine, I think it was ten earlier today. This black one is interesting. I haven't seen it before.
