Trip to Italy: special Dino parts needed?

As every year I will go last the weekend in march to Italy.
I planned a short visit at the workshop near maranello which owns the original body form
and later visit the big auto jumble in reggio emilia.
Are there any Dino parts needed where you don´t know where to get and i can look for?
In Corbanis Corner the new clock for example sold by me in 2007 on ebay was something I got there (picture),
but there is no gurantee that there will be another one.

308 clock fits, looks nearly identical and often can be found on ebay for MUCH less than a Dino clock.

Plus, they actually KEEP TIME.

I had one in the garage for a while, actually sold the tag for more than the clock.

I need an amp meter for my '71 euro dino 246 GT...someone replaced it with an aftermarket vdo one..

 

The clock in one of my Dinos has been inoperative for as long as I have owned the car. However, time is the last thing on my mind when I'm driving a Dino! Fred

 

My clock works but it seems to revert to Italian time. Really. The second hand's always moving but the time is usually pretty random.

 

My clock occasionally makes ticking noises (on no regular schedule), but the hands don't actually move. Is this proof that a Dino can actually make time stand still? Fred

 

Hey Guys,

These Veglia clocks wear out as they run 24/7 on mechanical action. The good news.....They are interchangeable with other models (like the 308/328) and the faces can be changed/transplanted to keep the cosmetics of the original. Good call D M! The guys at Motion Products (www.mpirestorations.com) can help if you get stuck.

Another good show/swap meet is the "Techno Classica" in Essen in April (close to home for you) I went last year and found many treasures.

I could use a glovebox lid for an "L" series.
A right hand side chrome gutter
(it goes from the rear quarter window to the vent window,under the roof)
2 door chrome trim pieces (L shape, over the door).

What is Reggio Amelio?

 

thought of something else...I could use the two dash top vents(the black round things that can be opened or closed that sit on the top of the dash close to the underside of the front window) that have DINO written on them. My '71 GT is a non AC car and only requires two of them. So add that to the list...more things will be forthcoming as I remember them.

 

There are like 6 weeks left before I go, so there is time enough to remember ;-)

The chance of getting it, is depending on what you are looking for:
1) Documents/papers:
From my experience it is easy to find original papers like brochures, owners manuals or the spare parts cataloque,
but they prices in Italy are not lower than somewhere else.
2) New parts:
There is also always one dealer with a lot of new parts but same price situation.
3) Used parts or by luck also new ones like the clock.
Used parts are often carbs, wheels, steering wheels, gauges..., new and not from a dealer.... you never knew.
4) new body/ chassis parts.
That is only on Friday afternoon on my way from the airport to the event possible to get at the restauration workshop.
Two problems: First is transport as I go there by plane and have a rental car in between. So big parts would be difficult.
Second is the time as my plan arrives in the afternoon and on friday I have only maybe 1-2 hours before they close.

I don´t want to start high expectations, because also in Italy Dino parts are never easy to find.
But if I see something and I knew this part is needed then I maybe can get it.

 

Hi, I need a knob that fits onto the rod which opens the glove box by pressing it. I also need a gasket that sits on top rear edge of the door next to the door handle. It is a little black hard plastic piece that snaps into place on top of the window opening. I've included a picture. Thanks

Jon, I assume that you'r referring to "Reggio Emilia"? If so, that is a city in Emilia-Romagna (the region of Italy in which both Modena and Maranello are located). When you hear the term "Parmigiano-Reggiano," it refers to goods (mainly cheese) from the area of Parma (known for great prosciutto!) and Reggio Emilia. The reason it is known as "Reggio EMILIA" is that there is a city in southern Italy known as "Reggio CALABRIA." In earlier days, when the first two characters on an Italian license plate were an abbreviation for the name of the region or city of vehicle registration, "RE" signified Reggio Emilia, and "RC" stood for Reggio Calabria. What is this?
The inner part of the seats?
What material and color do you need?

 

they are designed to go over the center portion of the seat. they are fabric on the red side and i am guessing vinyl on the grey side. they have leaded tabs that allow for them to be folded over the seat, i am guessing if the vinyl seats were left in the sun, these could be put in place to keep from burning your skin. they are typically called "beach covers", but it seems like i am the only person who ever talks about them

 

Clocks are easy, read Corbani's solutions.
Let's try something harder:

1) Pin switch for the engine compartment courtesy light
2) Suspension nuts - Nylocks with yellow inserts in sizes M10x1.25, M12x1.25, M12x1.50
3) suction cups for the 246GTS front windscreen sunshade
4) Door jamb pin switches
5) bumper post to body work trim "grommets"

 

The clock in my Dino works great. Its right twice a day!

 

You definately are, but after all we are CLOSE to the beach!

The heat of the engine lid melts the wax off my Velzys...it's a big mess!

Good luck........have you tried Classiche Department on these???

 

Do you have any dates for this Auto Jumble, I have tried google but nothing showing at the moment

Yellow insert to be original
Need 48 for the Dino suspension, Newco sells them for $7.00 each, but the thread in the vintage section stated that they could easily be found in Europe.

I appreciate your help looking up the alternatives above.
