That progression is a FAR CRY from the original statement. If we go back far enough we can trace all cars to the horse and buggy (why do we still rate engines with "horse"power).

I believe the original statement was something to the effect that the F-40 was a "hotrodded 308."

    Finnegan's Wake
    James Joyce. A complex joke.
Finnegan= Fin Again, End again, a loop. Book begins with 2nd half of last sentence of book.
Wake, book took place while Finnegan was asleep.
Certainly not the work of the insane, more the mocking of the literati and the critics, the self-important projecting their meaning into the meaningless. Lots of harsh satire in there, subtle enough to be lost on all but a few.
This has been your Supercar forum book report. Check out Ulysses, Dubliners, and The Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, available at fine bookstores everywhere. ;)

Actually "horsepower" was a measurement of power introduced by the Scottish Engineer and inventor, James Watt (1736-1819) to rate steam engines. The unit is actually quite low compared to what a horse is capable of...

Depends on spec. Drop a big block Chevy in the pygmy pony and it'll take two chutes to stop that mofo ... blow a hoof on the dyno fo sho.

It is the average power a horse produces while working over a full day - not the peak power one can produce - which is why it seems low. In my fit youth I could generate 1hp for maybe a minute (okay - probably more like 15 seconds :p) - when viewed from that perspective it is a LOT of power! :)

I'm afraid I don't appreciate Joyce. But then again, I don't like Kerouac, either.

    Thanks for the education, though.
