Testarossa hood catch.

One of the catches on my Testarossa isn't catching (it's the passenger side) when I close the hood and press down in the correct place.

Does anyone have any experience of this and do you have any ideas on how to fix this problem ?

I would check to see if the latch bolts are loose.. Check the height of the latch.. It may be too low.. First pull cable again to be sure both latches are in open position. Loosen the bolts raise up a hair then tighten - check for closure then final tight.. Close the hood gently when your doing this.. You dont want to damage the striker or hood if the latch is too high. Hold her all the way down.. I dont think any TR hood closes when you let the hood drop down. I always have to press each corner down to close..

Pardon, but I assume we are talking about the front hood here? As the rear is able to latch itself when you drop the hatch...

 

His comments are all related to the TR front hood. There are adjustable bolts in slots to position the location of the catch hole in the latch holding the catch wire on the front bonnet -- look under the carpet.

If all seems still tight (no obvious looseness to fix/readjust) -- check using a screw driver shank (to simulate the catch wire) that the latch would click closed properly if everything was in the right place. If so, then you should be able to adjust the latch position to make it work. If not, you need a new latch
