What insurance do you use, and do you like them?

state farm,over 20 years now

 

I have State Farm, my parents had State Farm and my grand parents had State Farm never a problem with State Farm in fact when my Honda was totaled in Sept. I didn't like what the other company offered me for my car so I went to state Farm they paid me a over $1,000 more for the car and then 2 months later sent me a check for the deductible after they subed against the other company.

 

State Farm

No Problems.

They let me take off the liability in winter. If I want to take the car out I call them before I leave to put the liability on and call them when I get back to take the liability off.

When I shopped around State Farm was by far the cheapest...which surprised me. I am sure having a good driving record and my homeowners insurance with them helped.

 

State Farm also. Used them for everything for the last 27 years. 355 costs me under 600.00 per year with full coverage. As Phil said above they are real flexable.

 

State Farm as well - I was able to get my '86 328 insured for $54,000 replacement value after
showing them all my service receipts (although I must say I'm actually into it for just under
$70k but $54k if it got destroyed would be a very fair settlement) - generous annual mileage (5k), full coverage with
$1k deductible on collision, $100 on comprehensive, all for about $54 a month. I had a
claim in 2003 (totaled a nearly new Kia Spectra) - they paid out more than I paid to get
the car! And after 5 years the accident was removed from my record as if it never even
happened. I love State Farm....

I have a question on State Farm.... first background: My Dad (Aetna Life/Health) and Grandfather sold insurance for many years. My Dad was one of the most old-school honest people you could ever meet, and both he and my Grandfather swore against Allstate, State Farm, and Farmers for auto or anything else. Reason: They claimed that those companies were the first to show up at hospitals to try to pressure victims in an auto accident to settle early. They wanted to settle before more major unknowns and associated expenses showed up. Apparently my Dad felt Aetna and others did not follow this practice. Also, my Mom was a nurse, and seemed to corroborate that these companies were the most likely to show up in hospitals after accidents.

I'm not trying to trash these companies, this was over 30yrs ago. But my question is if anyone has real experience with how State Farm or other companies have handled serious auto medical injury claims. Any problems? I value my 348, but this value can pale in comparison to major medical claims. IMO injury claims are where the rubber meets the road, not body and paint work. Thanks.

 

never heard of that but maybe you should go with your familys insurance,keep that in the family

 

i feel that state farm is the best..... plus if you do your house with them also...... you may get up to 15% off on your car insurance thats what i did been with them for over 20 years... i have had to process a claim with them and they pretty much let me do my own thing choice of repair facility took care of my deductible and after it was all said and done did not raise my rates either maybe it depends on the kind agent you deal with that represents the company for the area you live in and his demeanor ....hope this helps

 

sounds like a pitch to sell their insurance to the wife when the husband is at work and then out comes the vacum cleaner and pots and pans to come with the insurance,just like in the 50's

 

State Farm.

 

I have Geico on the everyday cars, and heacockclassic on the sports cars. I can't deal with the semi-annual hijacking that is standard practice at State Farm and Allstate. Rasing premiums 10-15% twice a year for a person who has NEVER had a claim seems out of line to me. I am not sure Geico will be different, but they are about half the premium Allstate was getting for the same coverage.

thats never happen to me,but in fla where there's alot of claims due to weather and crime I'm sure thats why it happened there,I left fla in my teens and never looked back,been with s.f. for over 20 years,

 

State farm for sure. My only experiences have been with them, and dealing with an allstate insured driver that totaled my car. No fault of my own, multiple witnesses, and it took about 20 months for them to pay for the car.

Chubb. I couldn't imagine insuring a Ferrari with State Farm.

State Farm. They are very accommodating, though I haven't had any claims yet.

One awesome thing about them, but perhaps it's not exclusive to them, is that they let me go on a month by month basis. If I don't want to drive the car for a two months stretch, I drop the coverage down to fire, theft, etc. I did this for the winter. Then, when I wanted it on again, I called and it was on the road that day. All they do is adjust your premium according to what months you are driving it.

 

Another vote for Chubb. Dealt with another company for a claim, and they seemed like they were trying to figure out ways to not pay me. In the end I would have been better off never mentioning it. It was just a small accident.

In contrast, a couple years ago I had some work equipment stolen while it was in Canada. I didn't have any coverage for such an incident, and Chubb covered it through my home owners. And, unlike the unnamed company above, they seemed more about making sure I recovered payment for all I had lost, instead of finding ways not to pay me promptly.

 

GEICO for the daily drivers, they have been outstanding. Hagerty for the Ferrari, they are expensive but they did not exclude our kids. The kids don't drive the Ferrari, but it was important that they would be covered if they did.

 

Had AllState for house and autos for over a decade, not one claim, a lady hits me in VA and the next bill was double the premium. Called the agent and he said, "sorry, I cannot change it, out of my control. Those decisions are not made by me, I am just the agent." I was like WTF, all those years, no claims, I get it in a minor accident, no damage to my car and they double my insurance. Needless to say, I switched to GEICO, got a better rate for same coverage and have been extremely happy, outstanding service ever since - 2004.

 

The absolute best Agent and coverage. Reviews my Home, Auto, Boat and Life policies regularly and makes certain that all available discounts are applied. He really understands how things work.

Premium on my 308 was the best in Colorado,

Seriously, I would be happy to address any insurance questions anyone has without trying to sell you anything. 22 Years in almost every part of the company and an Agent the past 7.

Hey Jedi, long time. State Farm only laughed when I asked for a quote on the SLR, 612 and 430. All 10 cars as well as the house are covered by Allstate for replacement and or agreed value. $300,000/$500,000 with $1K deductible and a $5mill rider for $11K a year including the house.

 

Nice one Mikey. I agree however as my Agent does the same. And yes, anyone driving my cars is covered as long as they have a legit license.
