What's the deal with these? I'm talking about the clear lens lights integrated into the front bumper. They seem to exist on BBi's only, and I haven't picked up the common cause for these to be on a BBi, or not. 1982?, 1983? planned to be exported outside Italy - Germany etc? Maybe made to stay in Italy? I've seen cars that do not have them, but the inside of the front spoiler / bumper shows a place in the fiberglass for them to be mounted. What other car do they come on? Is there an old renault, etc that uses them? Are they just specific to Ferrari?

All BBi's have them from new. The leading edge of the bumper above the grille is thicker to allow for the lamps. If you look at a carbed 512 you'll notice this same section is much thinner. If you see one without the lamps look to see how thick that area is. If its thick then they have been filled in, if not, the bumper has been replaced with a BB bumper. This elimination of the lamps happened when the cars were DOT converted where a fairly ugly bumper would be over-layed onto the original bumper. When people converted them back some didnt bother sourcing the correct lamps and either put a BB bumper on it or filled in the holes once the over-lay was taken off. Some cars had a completely different bumper that doubled as a picnic table. Bottom line, they all had them from new. Enjoy finding those lamps now!

The 512BB's came with both small grill exposed lights (like mose BBi's) and full grill recessed lights depending on which country they were being exported to. This is shown in the parts book and if memory serves even shows which style grills were for which country.

    Not sure about the BBi's.

Yeah the BBi's had the same grill regardless.....unless the dealer modded yours like mine was for the added brake cooling ducts. I considered returning it to factory but decided against it.

Just to clarify on the grills, I was referring to the veritcle height of the opening being larger on the BB than the BBi, true the grills vary in length.

Those white parking/running lights are hard to find too. Back when I first bought my BB512i and I was converting it back to original spec, I bought two from Eddie Karam and a spare from Ferrari of South Africa...

Thank you. Your cars look really nice. At some point I would like to have the lights back if they belong, and I can get them.

I think a BBi owner should track down the owner of 365BB # 19323 - he has them on his car but shouldn't (due to an American DOT conversion process a BBi front was installed). Car was for sale in Paris about 6 months ago, not sure what happened after that.

Pretty rare indeed. These bumper lights hopefully were used for someother more common vehicle. Like the side markers are simple Fiat.

    Thanks

I think David Feinberg needs one of those front bumpers for his 365, he's slowly turning his into a BBi anyway. That bumper would be the next logical step! Now he just needs the power and reliability to go with the looks. :)

Has anyone noticed the markings on those lights? Like ALTISSIMO, VALEO etc.
