I am no expert, but have been looking for an SA over the past 6 weeks. I finally decided to purchase the one at Scottsdale Ferrari. Clean car, one owner, 4600 miles, all the options including GTC & carbon trim, major service done as part of the price, we did the deal for $245. Closest deals I could find was one out of NY, no options $250 and the Atlanta SA on Ebay, also no options, who is holding out for $240. There was one at Newport Beach in CA with 12,000 miles, but had no history, needed major service and looked a bit rough, it went for $200.

I doubt that I stole the car, but I decided it was worth the price to have piece of mind and purchasing from the dealer to sold it originally and serviced it until it was sold to me. I also concluded that the options were important since a number of the cars I found, even at $300, had virtually no options.

Lastly, I think it is obvious that the longer you wait, the lower the prices will be, but I don't have the patience.

    Good luck,

    Vince

The options on my car are Interior Carbon Trim (8K), Daytona Seats (3K), GTC Package (22K), Scuderia Shields (2K), Rear Wall Leather (2K), Upgraded HiFi & CD changer (3K), Color Stitchings (.3K). The power memory driver's seat and basic radio with single CD are standard.

I have one of the Superamerica books that were issued to promote the car, and in there it mentions that you can also order carbon fiber racing seats, a navigation system and a four piece luggage set. I am in process of trying to find a set of the luggage - it would be nice to have when my wife and I take a trip out of town.

My car should be arriving this weekend - I can hardly wait!

Jon- Here is a partial option list for the 2005 575M. Missing is the FHP, about $4000, and available on 2005s. Not sure if it was availble on the SA. You can ignore the fact some items are not priced. Looks like they did not have all options priced for this particular site.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I was under the impression that all SAs had FHP configuration as standard?

I noticed a 'paint color upon sample' . Does this mean you may request a custom color per your sample for just a small fee?

If so, this would be a nice way to make a one-off custom color desired.

    Jon,

In case you don't already know, Taz is one of the most knowledgeable persons on this site. I am always amazed at the amount of information and knowhow that he has. As far as the options go, what I have quoted you is what was on the sticker for my SA. Like any option list, it can get complicated. For instance, if you get the GTC package, the red brake callibers are included. Also, the prices on the list from Taz are for the most part lower than the sticker price for my SA, but that could be because miine was first delievered in Jan '06.

    Taz,

What does FHP mean? I hope it does not mean Florida Highway Patrol.

    Thanks,

    Vince

Rik- There were two different custom paints, one "out of range" for the 575M, but still a standard PPG paint color, and one to sample, or custom, where they mixed paint to match your sample. Prices were reasonable for both. I believe the custom paint is now much more expensive.

Vince- FHP is the Fiorano Handling Package with stiffer springs, bigger rear anti-roll bar, an improved steering ECU, and red calipers with Pagid 4-4 racing pads. HGTC included a development of the FHP, plus a lot more. My 575M has FHP. Would much rather have your HGTC.

You're wrong (Best JS imitation) :D No, FHP was available as was HGTC. HGTC had CCB brakes/exhaust. FHP was about 4-5k IIRC. GTC was 21k, I ordered it

Out of range paint is a non-current Ferrari color, about $3500. I believe the classic colors offered are slightly less than this.
Paint to sample is exactly that, about 6k, but can run much higher depending on what is needed. They couldn't get the pigment I wanted to work in their paint system (powder coating, essentially), even after 3 tries and an Italian translation from the pigment manufacturer.

Put stone-guard on the roof. 26k to replace it. Original owner is on here. Car had a good home, was driven. Top is very trick, you'll like it. Tonneau for inside of roof when top down is unfathomable to put together the first time. I used mine x1.

    Enjoy

Lee- Thanks. I missed the comment on SA and FHP. Ferrari warned potential owners about the brakes squealing with FHP Pagid brake pads. No way they were going to make that standard and have SA owners grumping about brake noise. Plus they would rather sell them a $20+K HGTC package, which included FHP suspension mods anyway. Have virtually no experience with SAs, so did not know if FHP was an option or not. Thanks for the update from somebody who actually owned one.

Bobbafet is one of the most knowledgeable posters here on Maranellos, and there is not much information out there on the relatively rare SA, except discussion about the magic top.

How much are those custom paints on a 599? I thought they were way more than the $3-6K on the 575s.

Fixed it for ya Terry :D
Paint prices are about same, a bit more perhaps. Out of range is really dependent on the color. One of my choices was technically impossible.

:D ;) Good to see my facade is easily pierced. Kind thoughts, Terry, but wholly untrue (about me knowing much). I defer to you.

Makes sense re: FHP v HGTC - I would think that with the added weight and difference in rigidity, one would want the HGTC by default. I can't recall why or where I had heard that the FHP setup was standard, and that HGTC for SA was basically the brakes, etc. Good to get clarification.

What is this stone-guard product? Since the Scottsdale SA owner is on this site, perhaps he could let me know if the stone guard product is already on his car?

Sorry for stupid questions, but what is the difference between HGTC and GTC?

    Thanks,

    Vince

    Found it :D
Stone-guard is clear bra/film that goes on front end and light covers. Originally made to protect heli windows in the sandbox war. Try X-Pel, google it. Saved my paint from 160+ rock hits. Search SA glass here, top replacemnt was needed for rock hit, was 27000 installed.
See this thread. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=228305 Alex doesn't like clear bras, you'd see a thin line where it ends. Not usually used on glass except HL covers, but this top is different.

No GTC, only HGTC. Fiorano FHP and HGTC. Search Superamerica in this forum too.

Dan- Some of the confusion may have come from Ferrari making the FHP steering ECU standard on all 2005 (and possibly late 2004) Maranellos and SAs and the inclusion as standard of the HGTC shocks and shock ECU at about the same time.

Vince- HGTC=Handling GTC, FHP=Fiorano Handling Package

Lee- I see (said the blind-man) you and Dan are old friends.
