Thanks. That makes more sense. A poster on Ten Tenths gave it to Denyer but you have to sort the sheep from the goats a bit over there. BJ I'd like to see it live on TV too. So close to the original Bathurst race format. Armstrong 500 and all that. Kept a generation of fathers and sons watching all day as they raced cars that everyone could relate to. Before the big two battle degenerated into bi-directional NASCAR with the land ruled by Stumbledore the Evil.
I was just on the phone to stephens and we were discussing scud racing at bathurst. we agreed that it's great that he's so passionate about it and that he gets to do it and is really giving it a good go. we also agreed that that doesn't change what he is, though. we were also wondering if maybe he'd like to come to the GP this year and meet up with us....and if so, to make sure he brings his wife so that we can share a few good laughs and stories with her.
The Aussie-delivered 997's run a MoTeC ADL dashboard data logger.. you can run live telemetry with these.. does Scud have a crew that would interpret it on the run? The ADL with all the alarm functionality would warn the driver if one of the measurements was out of the specified range anyway... Scud's was sourced parallel to the Aussie cars though wasnt it?...
scud's going to be thrilled with all the posts about him...being an ego maniac and all. so no one knows why he went into the pits? maybe his radiator started leaking where the shock absorber pierced it after the wheel was pushed onto it after making contact with a wall. or maybe he ran out of fuel. or maybe phil worked on the car and it developed an oil leak. whatever, i hope he's having fun and i'll bet he's thinking about us too.
Whole field seems to be struggling with endurance. Don't have to be the fastest most gifted driver to win today. WBR blog has them falling apart. http://www.wilsonbrothersracing.com/12-hour-blog.html
I apologise for pushing my own barrow here...but it would be great to see a 166 being driven with gusto around Mount Panorama....If anyone knows anyone interested with a 50s/60s sports car of the appropriate type...get them to contact Charles Jardine (quickly).
