I won't say absolutely cause I said that the last two years and something went wrong. I was there in 06 and 05 and can not wait to get back there. Its such a kick as$ event. I heard they did it at the Travis County Expo Center last year, and that they'll be doing it there this year also. As long as the cruise is still in tact I will be happy, go to the cruise, walk down to 6th and spend the rest of the night partying, and then hit the waffle house and go to bed. Hell yeah, can't wait!!!

Is the Expo center part of the Rodeo, or is it just next to it. I know where it is, there is a Hindu temple right across the street from the Rodeo. I'll see if I can make it.

Don't know about that, I just know where it is because I used to go to a car show that is/was? held there every July. I know my way around Austin now just because of that show I would go to once a year hahaha. Anyway, you guys should attend, if not the show then atleast the crazy cruise they do on S. Congress. It is a blast, and very cool to see the different cars and to be around the rat rod culture. The women are BEAUTIFUL as well.

careful with that. The "R" words (Rat Rods) are likely to draw more than some disproving looks.

There is a line between "traditional" rods, 50's and 60's style, and "Rat Rods". The two are not the same. It may seem silly to those outside the hobby, but its a real division.

Its not like two sides are going to break out into West Side Story style dance fighting :D, although that would be entertaining, over it or anything... but calling someone's traditional rod a "rat" is a pretty big put down.

I'll be in town from Wed. on. I've got some business in Giddings, then back to Austin for Lone Star.

I NEEEEEED me some good BBQ. The Meat Store in Giddings is pretty good.

any good Q around Austin? When I lived there the Salt Lick was good, but I hear its touristy now. Is the food still good?

Oh I know, I've heard a lot of kids get torn a new one for calling someones rod a rat. It was actually kind of funny cause one kid I heard say that was very scared when a 60 year old bald man with a huge beard was yelling at him. He didn't know what to do. LOL
I guess things have changed, last I was there most of the cars weren't the "traditional" rods you see. Almost everything was rat. I'm good either way, I dig it all.

the Rat Rods sometimes exhibit more creativity than the traditional rods. Traditional rods are just that, about getting the old look just right, the Rat Rodders can go nuts. Lots of whacky stuff. Some good looking... some not so good :D

I've never been to Lone Star, cant wait.

+1 I've been to all of the so called great BBQ places in Texas and I like the food at Rudy's the best. If you go to the one on 360 (Capitol of Texas Hwy) you are likely to see a Ferrari. :)

Snow's BBQ in Lexington , East of Austin, was written up as " Best in Texas '08 " I cannot confirm, the Saturday I went, the line was around the building and when I reached the counter, the guy in front of me got the last of it!

My fairly close in personal fav is Mueller's BBQ in Taylor Texas on Business 79... Get on 79 out of Round Rock heading east and stop when you see Louie Mueller's on your left as you get close to Hwy 95 in downtown Taylor...if you get all the way to 95 then you just missed it so turn around... LOVE IT!

Forgot to mention... GO EARLY as they often run out of brisket on weekends! SERIOUSLY!
