Hi guys, Have had an F430 spider for 8 months and have had an error come up saying No CAL! When I start the car and sometimes during the journey but not always on. Please can someone tell me what this is, as my user manual is about 300 miles away from me right now. Sorry if this is a stupid question Thanks
Not sure if your system works like a 575M or not, but you have a TYRES PRESSURE CONTROL SYSTEM GAUGING SWITCH on the bottom of your instrument panel shown as number 8 on this parts drawing, courtesy of Ricambi. I do not have a 430 manual, but on a 575M, you turn the ignition key to on but do not start the engine, press the button for 5 seconds and a CAL light will come on. You then start the car and the system will calibrate itself after 10-20 minutes of driving. I have no idea if the 430 works the same way, but at least you will know where the switch is. First set tire pressures while cold then put the tpms in calibration mode by pushing the tpms button. Then drive the vehicle until it calibrates. It could be that it just lost calibration or it could be more serious like the sensors or module. The sensors have a battery in them that over time drains. Try calbiratiing then let us know what happened.
Its probably a dead battery in sensors or lost calibration. Unfortunately it is an internal battery - so the whole things gets replaced.
Sounds like the TPMS is just not active, and requires a calibration to be completed. If the car's new, it is highly unlikely that it's the sensor batteries. These should easily last a few years, and if it's a recent car it should have the newer style sensor in it, which definitely shouldn't be dead.
If it is a 2008 model it will not have the calibration button. The system is always active in calibration and if the NO CAL display is on it is currently missing a sensor and will likely resolve itself after a short drive with the correct tire pressures.
This is only the case if it is a North American car. All other 430s still have the calibration button.
Underside of dash left of steering wheel--you can feel for it or stick your head down in footwell left of steering wheel. I had the no cal the first week I ad the car--slow leak from a nail. Mine takes 10 minutes of driving to reset. Hope this helps.
The battery life in the tpms sensor is at max 4 years. Best bet is to replace all 4 as a set. Expensive and silly, but if you want your car to stop yelling at you, that what you need to do. Tire rack will have the sensors for far less then what Ferrari will charge you.
I know this is an old thread, but it's what comes up in Google so just wanted to share this video I just made on doing the calibration.
The TPMS sensors "age" out. They are basicly on a timer. Good battery or not, they will flag time to be replaced. Replace all 4, the do calibration via the dash. It will reset and away you go. 433 htz are the sensors..
