What does being a V12 have to do with performance?

Gadgetman, that cuts to the important issue and I agree. The Spider's more fun blocked in rushhour stalls than the GT-R was at its best. Although this must be unpopular I'd reserve this comment to spiders and/or manuals though. Coupe's and F1's must be faster but I can't imagine they're more involving.

I only take contention with people who aren't aware of the GT-R's long racing heritage, who don't understand the engineering, or who are in denial about the performance.

Does anyone know how fast the Enzo replacement will do 0-100? How about the F450 Scuderia?

My dealer has confirmed it will be a Spider version of the F450 (or whatever name the new model will have) and I will very soon order one to be sure to have it as soon as it's available (I think that will be 2011) and by then Fernando Alonso is dominating F1 in a Ferrari! :)

    Best regards

Are there any mid engine spiders with a folding hard top? Don't see how it would work.

The advantage a V-12 over smaller engines is more pistons smoother engine more balanced, shorter stroke, which means it can rev higher with proper gearing higher topspeed, sounds great and it can also produce more peak power. The 6.0 L from the Ferrari Enzo produces 650 hp. The BMW V-12 in the Mclaren F1 had variants that produced as much as 692 hp, from 6.1L.

I racked my brain and couldn't think of one, but it definitely could work in one of two ways - either the roof folds in its entirety on an axis coming to rest on top of the engine (like the 575M Superamerica, if it had a mid-mounted engine), or the engine is wholly behind the folded hardtop which would make for one hell of an ugly car since the wheelbase would be so long. Neither of those are particularly viable.

They're all great cars. Just happy I'm lucky enough to be able to own one. BTW, I do have a Coupe and take no offense to your statement. I just love the lines of a coupe.
Also, btw, i did take delivery on the 911. Wow, the new '09's with PDK feel and drive like a TOTALLY different car that the '08 i had. If anyone has yet to drive one.....do so. (this was an S of course.....higher horsepower)
    I think you'll be surprised.

    Cheers

I would opt for canvas over folding aluminum.

But I'd really like to see a GTS version. Loved the 355 GTS. Best of all worlds.
I understand it's very circa 1990s (with the NSX), but I am sure Ferrari could modernize it a la CGT.

A "CGT" style top would be awesome. I loved the GTS, I thought I was the best of both worlds. They spider is nice, though I don't see how they could fit a retractable hard top in the back with it being mid engined. If it is a cab, it will likely have the canvas top.

I highly doubt that the F450 will look anything like that. It looks like a test mule for a new engine to me.

They take the car on a public road, in heavy disguise... basically saying "hey, I'm going to become the new Ferrari". And then, the driver flips an obscenity at the photographer? No, I don't expect the driver to stop and show the car. I would have expected however, that he'd simply be working on his professional duties as a driver/tester/transporter/whatever.

Typical Ferrari arrogance. No other company on earth go get away with being such complete pricks to an adoring fan base. Shame on the driver, and shame on the the corporate culture for allowing this.

This has nothing to do with the next F450. I heard they were testing the new Enzo replacements engine with this?

Just because a test car looks like another, doesn't mean that's it. Have you ever seen the Enzo's test mule? Basically a stetched and chopped 348. However, it used the Enzo's engine and drivtrain etc.

It seems like it. Especially with the rumors of the next supercar being twin-turbo'd, those two vents in the rear seems to be a good indication.

And also they darkened the engine glass cover...

Stupid photographers, haven't they heard of helicopters.

I agree but you never know how the photographers behave to get that special picture. There is a reason why starts flipp them off too.

I wouldn't discount the possibility of a twin turbo six cylinder just yet. Those of us who have been lucky enough to have owned the Porsche GT2 and the F430 know just what the modern day twin turbo six cylinder is capable of.......

Ferrari doesnt have a six cylinder and they have been perfecting their V8 since the gt4. I dont see them going to a 6 cylinder now.

The wheelbase looks shorter and the rear track narrower than a 430?

Have to agree with this. Prestigous brand shouldn't allow this type of organizational culture - image is damaged!
