    e-mail received from them:

"The event will not be at the airport again, we will announce our new location once we've signed a contract...hopefully that will be very soon!

    Thank you for your patience"

    Whatever this means!

My CI newsletter gave out the early bird pricing; looks like show and italian car tix is about what it use to be, but non-italian corral prices gone up, the corral price is no longer a deal whereas in the past corral pricing was a deal at <half than spectator tix if you have two admission plus car inside the venue. Location not listed.

Interesting since their PR above says to go to their website, which clearly shows the Marina Airport as the location...

If the email above is correct, they need to update their website...

Hmmm...well I was just there and I don't see anything about the airport. All the pictures show grass and nothing is mentioned?

Are we looking at the same website?

I go to the home page (www.concorso.com) and click on the left side tab "Event Info" which brings up sub-tabs. I then select "Maps"

    I get this map:

I have no knowledge if what was said has substance but it did come directly from CI.

I would say they are cautiously trying to encourage ticket buyers but the reality of an alternative venue seems somwhat veiled to me.

I am gald I did not go last year and I probably will not go this year until a new and more appropriate venue is found and I have the feedback from attendees.

Interesting observation that they are posting in their e-mail photo the Blackhorse venue.

The guy who owns Maserati Club International is the same guy who bought "Concorso Italiano".
(also previously both owned by Frank Mandarano)

In my opinion, anybody whose got the balls to try to make a living selling Maserati Biturbo performance parts has got the balls to run Concorso Italiano at Blackhorse.

Sorry Jay but your wrong. Kerry McMullen is the guy that owns Maserati Club International and the new owner of Concorso Italiano is Tom McDowell. It says so on CI's website.

I am still going to Concorso Italiano if there is grass. I am not comfortable with a Maserati guy doing an event.

Sorry about that. Well they're probably distantly related at least, or have the same Tartan or something.

So now I guess the question which requires bigger balls? The guy who sells Biturbo speed equipment or the guy who restore C.I. to its former glory?

Well I am not going to respond to the anatomy comment but I will show you my tartan.

Just saw this and morgana58 is correct in saying that I did NOT purchase Concorso Italiano. One point of clarification, I prefer to be called a car guy that happens to own a Maserati that I do love. My partner, Jerry Kaye, and I both have experience with events. Jerry is a 15 year co-promoter of a large Italian event in Pennsylvania. I respect the fact that you plan to go to CI, I will look forward to seeing you in 2010.

    Here is the Dilemma

If you sign up early for the CI event to save a little money you are going on blind faith that CI will have a better venue. Could be worse.

On the other hand Blackhorse is a given that the location is nice, the question here is whether club guys can run a show of this size. Traffic could be terrible and there could be some first show mistakes, but at the end of the day your on the green with your club or friends, so this would be my choice.

In the spirit of business I would suggest the CI owner better get his show location nailed down and make the proper press releases or all that good will you paid for will be for not.

Well, this is the way I see it. Concorso Italiano has been running for 23 years. OK so last year was bad however, they now have a new owner, they are not going back to the airport and they know how to run an event.

My question is why on earth would another person put an event in direct competition on Friday. I get that the Quail is on Friday but, hello their prices are way too much for my blood. Why didn't you at least put it on Thursday. Then I could have made it a 4 day extravaganza. So, Kerry if you want me to go in 2010 change your day to Thursday otherwise count me out.

I am sticking to CI. Like I said before I am very curious where the new guy is taking Concorso this year. I have already registered and look foward to this year!

You seem to have inside knowledge about the CI location that the rest of us do not have. In fact you seem quite enthusiastic about the Concorso Italiano in general!

Here is your first F Chat post about how great the infamous 2008 Marina Airport Concorso Italiano is going to be:

    http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=137652038&postcount=127

In fact every post you have ever made on Ferrarichat has been about Concorso Italiano, so could you please tell us where the 2009 location is going to be? I honestly fit better into the CI crowd, than the Quail crowd. The cars I enjoyed most growing up were "common" ones I bought myself rather than ones my Father had.

(and as far as my grandfathers cars, I bought them from him when I was in high school and still have them)

Concorso has been such a part of my life for years. It just reminds me of my late father that has passed. I guess the reason why I am so loyal is cause that is something my father and I enjoyed each year. We would go to the Monterey weekend and spend the weekend together. CI, Lagoona Seca and then Pebble Beach.

As far as knowing the location. I have no idea as of yet. But, I guess I like to think on the possitive. I am not much of a chatterer although I seem to be doing this a whole lot more. I will probably go back in to my shell before long.

In a nut shell I guess why I am so passionate about it is cause it feels still like family. He maybe in my past but, I still feel him there.
