I hear ya. What kind of summed it up for me was that Italian jet they had on display. I told my friend who is into planes about it and he said "oh you have to check it out, those planes are really nice, top notch". So I went over and talked with the pilot got to see the plane. It turns out it was some charter plane and it looked like it had been flown hard by some rock band and put away wet. What a dissapointment, just some old stinky jet with red paint.

Quote: "Thursday you run a British and French show, Friday you run the Italian show. Offer a discount for customers that go both days. You already have the equipment and personnel their why not underwrite more of the cost. In addition you ad the marque of Laguna seca to the Thursday show, so all the people coming down for the Laguna Seca event have a nice place to show and meet. This is Marketing.

As far as CI goes.................. so many promises for so many years."

Hey those are some great ideas. Why not send them to the new guy? Maybe he will listen?

I understand the Friday thing but, I don't like the feeling like of missing anything. Oh well! I guess I will get over it.

The FCA is supporting the alternate event where your car can be judged.

The car shows on Ocean Ave. in Carmel are excellent and free to the public. It is the Monday and Tuesday before the Italiano event. On Monday they just had Ferrari and Porsche with full on judging for the vintage cars. On Tue it was all types of cars. Although it is only around 115 cars the selection was excellent. They close down Ocean Ave and several of the side streets. Well worth going to and making a week of it.

Agree, and it is a quality event as the Q without spending all the $$$$ but... I am not going to the CI until I learn about what it has BECOME..... too short a time now to really put on a quality event IMHO...

Not only is the Ocean Ave. Event pretty good, but also there is a Ferrari Event at Khakis in Carmel (mens Clothler) I get in for free but im not sure how much it is to get into the event, it might be 50 bucks, but im not sure. The Event its self consists of live entertainment, food, wine, ferraris, lamborghinis, and maseratis. All in all its a pretty fun small event. Around 45 cars attend the event. Go to http://www.khakisofcarmel.com/events.php for more info.

this is what I love about a new comer,he fills out the bio completely, and wants to be part of this wonderful membership we have here at ferrarichat, notice the others that come in with less than 10 post talking about what CI or other events are doing and making CI is the place to go,hum............maybe they don't fill out the bio because then you'll know their part of the hipe of helping CI or has something to do with them and want to know how us FERRARICHATERS fell about the tarmac

You know what Michael, as far as I am concerned your comment is uncalled for. Just because I like CI does not make me a bad person. You automatically assume because I like CI I must be working for them. If I don't post alot that is my business. Why I don't fill out my bio is again my choice. For you to automatically try and put me down just because I don't agree with you and make me out to be a bad person or some sort of spy makes me wonder what kind of person are YOU?

Usually those that throw out accusations are the ones that are hiding something! You seem to hate CI so it tends to make me wonder who's event are you working for?

I myself have already expressed why I like CI and if that isn't enough for you...TOO BAD!!! Move on to someone else and stop picking on me!!!

If you thought this was directed to you I'm sorry but if you go on the othersites that everyone here is talking about which this has been a year long topic, there has been people that have come on and state their view and then disappear, and if I was referring about you,I've would've said your name, and how did you get the idea that me or anyone is putting you down, everyone here including you speak whats on our minds and then sometimes we don't think about those that are sensitive to their views,I've and many others have been to CI but last year was a joke, now maybe some who do'nt have a ferrari that would be a nice place or anyplace for that matter to see such a wonderful car,but me as a owner it was disapointed to take my car there, and far as working for what venue, will that would be for the one that well be the most successful, and if CI moves it off the tarmac I'll be more supportive when it goes back to trees and grass,I'm hoping to take it to a venue on the grass and under trees,I sorry that you took this personally

Well, you stated those that only have 10 posts or less...that would be me. I looked back over 3 months and I am the only one that has that. Not filling out there bio...hmmm again that would me. So, I wonder...who else were you referring to but, myself?

If you were not than I accept your appology.

Maggie, one thing that I do is sometimes write without reading what I said, but what I do when I refer to someone is quote that person and that way its like I'm talking to that person, otherwise I'm just talking, sometimes not thinking, anyway, those post that I was talking about that come and go................here are afew...........hotshoe,gonzos,freesopesdad,nigelevans,pursang,targa are just a few that has come in and hype up things and then disappear does anyone know where they are now.......................no! I think I know whats wrong with me is that in the last three weeks its been raining and I haven't worked because of it(I'm in construction)and I'm at this computer to much and starting to get to snotty towards people,to everyone here I apologies.............(being a Ironworker and talking like this all day sometimes comes home with me too!)

Me, too. Back to the glory days of Quail Lodge when the FCA served a catered dinner on china under a tent on the fairway and CI selected my car for the centerpiece display. Now that was class! ;)

Well, IMO i wasn't too happy last year about it being at Marina airport. Hopefully it will be back at bayonet, its always fun being apart of CI, but last year with the bad event spot and bad weather, i didn't have much of a good time. Having it in PG is a pretty good idea too, also a good point to bring up to the council is that CI might get more spectators due to the date of the airshow only five days before, and I talk to a lot of people at the airshow that wish that the Concourse was earlier so they could attend.

Ah yes, Frank Mandarano, the Godfather of Concorso Italiano. A great vision delivered first at Quail and then at Blackhorse, the good old days. An italian car and lifestyles event will be held at Blackhorse August 14, and it will cater to the clubs. To date, Alfa, Fiat/Lancia, Maserati and Pantera club members are exceptionally supportive. The formal announcement will come Wednesday. The intent of this event is to take the event held at Blackhorse "Back to Basics" as it once was. The golf course has been completely redone, and they are erecting a Fairmont Hotel to further the atmosphere. The owner of this event has secured the venue for several years. One of the partners is involved in another significant italian car event held in the United States every year. The team consists of four original Concorso Italiano team members from way back wehn the event was under Frank Mandarano's reign and includes the person who has designed the incredible event books each year.

I am going to attend the new event at Blackhorse, I recognize the passion not to mention the risk and effort this group has made to reestablish what was the best event of the Monterey weekend.

its is VERY unlikely that a car show would EVER be held on the PG Golf links. The issue has been brought up before and there is a group in town that is very against the idea. Plus part of the charter for the golf course land being given to the city kinda rules out any such thing. There are about 3-4 different major obstacles to a car show there.

That being said, when a city council gets it in its collective mind that they want something, they can ramrod it through.

So it looks like CI has some serious competition and it's at the great location!

Anyone know anything further about this?
